No. Think it reflects poorly on one’s character. I find most people I know that steal stuff from stores don’t really NEED to steal. They can afford it, they will just avoid paying for it if they can get away with it.

Ive never intentionally shoplifted but I have had something in my pocket and forgot to pay for it type s***

I had a period where I was bad with it. Candy, rice krispies, demos out of the playstation magazine We was struggling so I started getting impatient when I couldnt get stuff.

Luckily I grew out of it after I got caught finally. The security dude came and grabbed me and took me into a room with all these TVs (cameras) lol and said he had to call my mom. Sure enough, I looked at one of the tvs and saw my mom in the store shopping. He called her over the intercom and she walked in looking confused asf. They banned me from the store without a parent but eventually I started going back ha. Glad I quit before it got more serious. I think nowadays I'd get the cops called on me.

Man I stole things a few times. I'm not proud of it.

On one occasion my brother convinced me to steal a bunch of chocolate bars for his birthday. I ended up walking out with about 15 - 20 bars of Cadbury Dairy Milk, the big boys too.

Had that s*** stuffed everywhere.

They noticed that s*** was missing too but couldn't pin anyone on it...they shortly installed cameras after.

I walked out of a 7/11 moments later a group of like 30 run in and just take a whole bunch of s***, ngl I was mad I paid for my s***

I mean some kids just be wanting certain stuff they cant get and even though they know right from wrong still do it. That's what the younger years are for though to learn lessons. Some end up learning harder lessons that others though

Yeah, trading cards, bakugon, beyblades, chips, and other stuff that could fit in a boys pocket. One time my friend and younger brother went without me and they got held up by the police

I agree kids will be kids. they’re just acting up sometimes but I feel like it sets you up to be that way later down the line

I don't see the philosophical negative in stealing from giant companies like Target. Realistically these huge companies f*** the average citizen over every day by using loopholes to pay their fair share in taxes...

only little s*** like a pen or something, 2 of my cousins got busted for shoplifting when I was like 8 and the way my parents reacted deterred the f*** out of me

Yeah at 16-18 I worked at the mall and I stole a ton of stuff (not money just product) from the places that I worked at. I mean I was stealing stealing, I didn’t even have a reason beyond maybe boredom.

And then I just stopped. Never stole again. Don’t even have the heart to lie to the self checkout.

I always justified it as taking from mega corps but as an adult I see that’s slightly disingenuous. It definitely has different roots all over, but I’d be interested to read some studies on American teens relationship to shoplifting under capitalism in the modern era.

Also I forgot about when I was like a senior in hs I worked at a grocery store and my homie worked at a sandwich shop and he would tell me (and show me) how he would steal a ton of cash. Now what HE was doing could have got him into some real s*** but he got away with it somehow lol. Glad he grew out of it too (far as I know)
