I partially agree with your statements of DD not working on a federal level, I see it working better on more of an independent state, city or community level. I honestly don't like countries much, it just becomes too many different types of people to manage.

I also agree with your statements on representative democracy being a smokescreen for plutocracy, I figure it's harder to bribe an entire nation or city than it is to bribe a few individuals or a party.

But again, tyranny of the majority > tyranny of the minority, do you disagree? Nearly every flaw I can find in direct democracy is even worse under representative democracy.

I think you're right; a voluntarily assembled community where all of the participants are willing contestants is a great arena for democracy when the rightful liberties of others aren't the subject of debate. The old adage of democracy being "2 wolves and 1 sheep deciding what's for dinner" is solved when the wolves and the sheep aren't competing for authority over one another

It's my opinion that our current perception of democracy is built on a rotten foundation, which is capitalism + statism. We haven't eliminated dictators, we've just made them less arbitrary -- we have still yet to address the root of the problem, which is that we still have such concentrated power that we let dictators wield in the first place. We need to fundamentally reexamine power itself and dissolve it's ability to create authority before democracy can be considered a just form of decisionmaking.

I don't think centrists are stupid, I think theyre right-wingers who are too much of cowards to admit as much.

You just said you think centerists are right wing, think about what that means about your bias. I, as most centerists I know, lean towards the left, so to call us right wingers is quite, uh, silly? Do you seriously expect a majority of the population to adopt your far left leaning ideology? If so, you don't understand the validity of the republican party, if not, you're suggesting tyranny.

How do you remove such concentrated power without replacing its function, without simultaneously destroying the world? Without direct democracy, what do you replace representative democracy with? Anarchy? Nothing?

As f***ed as it is, it still makes the garbage man come every week. Lots of people enjoy these services more than they need revolution.

Of course you all say you lean left lol, as I just said, centrists are a bunch of cowards.

Also quit throwing out words like tyranny to try and sound smart. Any political movement who wishes to advance its goals is going to need to wield power. All that matters is who they wield that power on behalf of.

Lol ok, well if you think I'm lying idk what I can tell you, I was a marxist for 3 years, I'm alive today because of socialized healthcare and in the position i am today because of socialized education. I've lived in socialized housing for at least half of my life, I've volunteered for almost 500 hours at a local environmentalist organization, I believe in socializing multiple private industries such as energy, telecommunications, physical and mental health, post secondary education and community transportation as well as others. I believe in trans rights, gay rights, black rights, feminism, the legalization of d****, the redistribution of capital towards the middle and lower class, what more do I need to do to not be a closeted alex jones fan to you?

I'm banned from every single school in my district because I handcuffed myself to the district headquarters demanding secondary education be made free to all. What the f*** have you done for the left? B**** on the internet?

    I got recipts

What did I misunderstand? Marx saw all the problems in capitalism, made a prediction that it'd collapse based on a lack of information that no one can fault him for not having.

His solution to the inherent imbalances of MCM was to abolish it, because he thought the means of production would continue to grow in size and become more and more inequally owned. He could not have predicted the computer or 3D printer in the 1800s, thus his prediction of the collapse.

What he failed to realize is that we're only a few decades away from achieving a technological state where EVERYONE NOT ONLY CAN, BUT WILL BE FORCED TO survive off of MCM. Even if this does not become true, I see no reason to believe, in the year 2020, that the means of production will ever become as centralized as he predicted they'd be.

And if this is true, then his entire suggestion to abolish capital becomes invalidated. I truly believe that if marx were alive today, he would not want to abolish capital.

yeah, im sure if marx were alive today and saw the abhorrent conditions that global capitalism has wrought upon the poor and working class of the word, he would simply sit back, think this is fine, and then read some ayn rand.

Lol, there is no factory on earth operating under as extreme conditions as those in the 1800s, where child labour and slavery where still popular. Yes, you could suggest the problem has just moved to other countries, where there are still slaves and child labourers, but you know for a fact that on a macro scale it's gotten much better and continues to.

This is not a marxism thread, this is a direct democracy thread. If you want to impose communism under direct democracy go ahead i dont care.

They work for capital, to then reinvest into their communities. If a country refuses to make slavery or child labour illegal, and a private company buys from them, i don't see how that's capitals fault.

That's the country and the private companies fault. Your blaming money for a human problem, one human decided to f*** over another, even without capital that will still happen.

Democratic control of economy is fundamentally a deeply leftist principle. The rest of the spectrum is free market oriented where everything is decided by demand/supply graph mechanics. Problem is that those graphs are a bunch of psuedo science created during the industrial revolution to protect capital and don't actually represent anything real. Sorry for your school board ban, although I don't understand why you would protest without the backing of other organized Americans
