it has something to do with the political and economical state of the world right now

  • Jun 24, 2023

They'd rather work with someone that can guarantee numbers rather than for the art of it.

Also helps that they've all built relationships over the years so it's not surprising.

Drake and Future don't deserve to be lumped in there though because they've taken some risks over the years.

they tweet this s*** every year

    Multiple times a year lol

The solution is so simple too. If that’s boring to you, look other places. People act like mainstream rap is the only rap out there and it’s crazy to me.

    “Mainstream” rap.

The fact it’s come to this when the mainstream niggas back in the day were the ones inventing the waves says a lot.

Your mans is part of that microwave wave btw

They get excited because they know what they are going to get. You see a Drake feature on a Future album and it makes you anticipate it more because you know their track record.

"They get excited because they know what they are going to get"

So...a generic and safe song that sounds like all their other collaborations. That s*** boring.

  • Jun 24, 2023

these are the hottest rappers in the game
    why wouldn't they collab?

The fact she’s biasedly defending it shows she’s part of that audience

I wonder how much of it is from them seeing hundreds of tweets and IG posts saying "X and Y on Z" with this picture before the song has even come out.

I'm so sick of NPC rap fans on twitter that post s*** like this

Mainstream hip-hop album in 2020’s starterpack:

    • Features from Drake, Thugger, Lil Baby, Durk, etc.
    • Production from Metro, Wheezy, TM88, Tay Keith that mainly consists of generic ass trap drums and overblown bass.
    • 20+ tracks
    • Goofy album art
    • That one single everyone plays but rest of the album cuts are ignored, that “single” typically features Drake
    • Employs ATL sound

    El Nigga

More than being repetitive the music just ain’t that good lol so many flavor of the month hits that are forgotten during this era due to the nature of streaming and social media. The rappers of right now aren’t that interesting and have nothing to say, either. Do you really expect any of the guys mentioned in that tweet to say anything of significance or that they haven’t said a million times already?

Lol at only putting this on the men, though. Feel like mainstream rap ladies literally only have one topic in rap rn

It’s the new gen + social media + attention span

This new gen don’t wanna rap. They wonna put out the same song over and over and mainstream eats it up. And since most albums only get attention for like a week, these dudes release deluxe albums with songs that sound the same as the main album

No one wants to rap cus they love the art. Yeah I know no one is gonna do this s*** for free but you know what I mean

No one’s doing it for the love of the game

Just for the love of the clout

  • Jun 24, 2023

It's a part of it. It's repetitive, they all might have a working relationship and good chemistry but 100 collabs later that s*** becomes stale. They're too comfortable.

And it would help those mainstream rappers that arent really that mainstream to get put on if they were step out of their comfort zone.

Travis actually does this pretty well for his albums, cause he follows the ye playbook

Formulaic mainstream songs, oh no. Rap is done for…. again!!

  • Jun 24, 2023

Like when thug first brought baby and gunna in his circle, the first collabs were exciting cause we never heard them together before and they all had chemistry w eachother

Never before did rap fans have to do this to find good music imo

2000s had some real dope middle class and underground rappers but the mainstream was on fire
