I really don't see why folks wouldn't just buy an older, used model and use the rest of your money into other things, but that's just me.

Some of those new features and luxuries on new cars do look real good though.

For me it’s the security. After growing and my parents having older cars that would break down and leave stranded, I’d rather a new car.
Sure your not promised a reliable new car but if something goes wrong your covered with warranties, if it’s a lease then you just get another car etc.

    This isn't always true.

Has always been true for me. Leases restrict how many miles you can drive, which mechanics you can go to and there is so much red tape when it's time to turn it in..

Putting money down and paying money monthly for something that you gain zero equity from is stupid.

It depends how long you keep the car, how much you drive, and what car it is.

Right now in 2021 used cars cost just as much as newer cars unfortunately. Basically one of the best times to buy a new car because of the chip shortage.

But 3 year old cars that are historically reliable won't fail on you.

One you get to see the maintenance record and it was well maintained and don't have morenthwb 12k miles per year, i would get it

Finance if you can afford it. Cars are actually holding their value pretty well rn and not depreciating as quickly.

Well when I made this thread I was thinking of trading in my 2013 Altima for a 2019 or 2020 Camry but as the months have gone on I'll probably just stick with it for a while.

Cars are depreciating assets and their life span is short enough that money invested elsewhere would hardly compound by the time you need to buy a new one. going into debt to buy a car is never smart.

    Calm down Grant Cardone.

Cars are depreciating assets whether you finance or pay in cash. You do realize that most people do not have cash on hand to just drop on a vehicle right? Unless we’re talking something old, and then you get into issues of reliability and maintenance. And at that point you could be spending more than you thought JUST to fix it.

“Debt bad” narrative comes from the people who were t smart with their financial decisions and instead of blaming their choices they just blame the idea debt

Do you just want a new car? Does the car not work? What is the reason you want to get a new car because that determines advice we should give you.

Not always true, but a lot of times people don't take into account that you also have to have full coverage insurance with a lease

  • Oct 19, 2021

I’ve bought with cash, also have financed in the past. Never leased, don’t see TOO many pros in it.

There's nothing wrong with it I just wanted something newer lol. But ever since I made this thread I realized I don't really need a newer car rn

There's a lot of factors involved tbh. Even when determining if you should pay in cash it depends if you are pay check to pay check or not and how much cash you have. Not everyone even has $3k cash to buy a car.

Oh if you want a new car and can afford it you should get it. You may get more out of having a new car than someone who just wants want something to go A to B.

Lol if there is nothing wrong with your car, then don't even think of buying a new one fam. Lol. I know we get a urge for shiny new things but that's the worst financial decision to make.
