if you want a real answer, Israel's "legitimacy" is about as legitimate as any other post-colonial or post-imperial state. A vast amount of modern states were built through brutal regimes of conquest, displacement, imperialism/colonialism (or the effects/runoff thereof). The morality in how we look at states now is only achieved through a retroactive assessment of morality, which is especially common now because of the relative recency of Israel versus other countries. The country of Israel itself is ridden with problems which are extrapolated greatly because of the modern globalized world and culture. Israel's government is largely corrupt, hypocritical, and inhumane. Palestinians deserve self-determination and rights. Though if we're being real, outside of this now localized modern global morality, Israel's existence pales in comparison to the wider history of centuries of colonization and statehood prior to its establishment which was essentially normalized (mostly by the West) before globalization.

The biggest problem is religion, particularly islam in the region with its restrictions. Religions have too many rules against freedom.
