  • Until western governments stop supporting Isreal, it is a "legit" state.

Isreal has the right to exist, but not at the expense of Palestinians so ofc #freepalestine

I’m being edgy because I’m not fake outraged like you are? Lol you idiots are getting mad because I’m being honest about the fact that I don’t care about what is going on in either of these countries.

Would you rather I just say what everyone is expected to say so that you can feel good about yourself?

“What Israel is doing us terrible. They’re killing innocent Palestinians and America is backing them. America is bad.”

There are you happy now? It doesn’t make it any less true that I don’t care who wins this conflict. I don’t have a horse in this race.

tf is wrong with you my guy

    Guess the country:

    • gained independence from Britain in the late 1940s, established as a homeland for a specific ethnoreligious group
    • upon its foundation, there were mass population movements and displacement, both forced and voluntary, both into and out of the country
    • the official language is not “native” to the country but was brought there at foundation
    • during the Cold War, it was an American ally and fought several wars against its Soviet-aligned neighbors, and it still has bad relations with its neighbors today
    • ethnic discrimination and violence led not just to internal unrest but to outright war
    • has a covert nuclear weapons program
    • its intelligence agency wields a great deal of power and influence

Would you drop the rest of those parallels? Knew about some of the stuff you mentioned but a lot of it was new to me

Also you got any good resources for learning more about this?

Well I’m just going off the top of my head but here’s a few more:

    • you could compare the treatment of Palestinians in Israel and especially the occupied territories to the treatment of Ahmadis, Christians, and Hindus in Pakistan
    • from the founding to today, both have seen a general increase in political power of the religious conservative segment of society
    • extremely turbulent internal politics, although is probably just a feature of being in the Middle East/South Asia lol. Still, both Netanyahu and Imran Khan are currently facing criminal charges
    • both have a very complicated relationship to the United States
    • more of a fun fact but both are home to a tiny ethic group who practice a religion which is an archaic cousin of a major world religion (Samaritans to Judaism in Israel, Kalash to Hinduism in Pakistan)
    • obviously I’m reaching at this point but the relationship of Pakistani nationalists to Turkey could be compared to the relationship of American Evangelicals to Israel

Also just ask if you want me to provide the specific examples for any of the previous ones

I just stay informed on the current events but the most efficient way to learn is to read Wikipedia articles tbh

the framing of this question is too divisive
Israel exists and Israeli people live there whether you agree with it or not.

How can we ask the question that works in favor of the opressed Palestinians without creating unnecessary conflict
