Probably a dumb question, but how come no one’s walked on Mars yet? Too far? I know they’re planning it soon but it feels like one of those things that would have happened back in the day tbh
it was impossible to fake at the time
i’m not saying we did but stanley kubrik did a convincing job

so much further and the atmosphere is different
Soviets were the first to reach Mars?
ussr was a powerhouse dude they’re also second all time in olympic medals

It takes 3 days for a spaceship to go to the Moon
It would take 6-8 months for a spaceship to go to Mars

that image puts it into perspective
don't you think russia would've exposed our ass amongst other things if the moon landing was fake, considering they also put s*** in space and were trying to put a man on the moon? most of these conspiracy theories fall apart under the slightest of scrutiny and common sense
Yes but idgaf
The moon landing is easily the most impressive out of those things by a long shot
We sent two people to another rock in space, got them down to its surface, back up, and back home. With less technology than our phones. That is literally insane lol.
Space Stations and Venus landing are way more impressive than a barren rock
Come on man, nobody's telling their grandchildren where they were when they first saw live footage streaming from Venus, I get wanting to counter narratives of American supremacy in the space race, but the fact that they sent an actual human to walk around on the MOON, the thing in the sky, that's iconic in a way that these more unmanned achievements lack
Like oh boy, first guy in space, what did he do? Stayed in a pod the whole time, neat, it lacks agency, it's passive, still objectively incredibly impressive, but it doesn't capture hearts and minds the same way
The first guy on the moon? That's a guy WALKING on the MOON, let's be real
Come on man, nobody's telling their grandchildren where they were when they first saw live footage streaming from Venus,
Yeah, because that wasn’t achieved by Americans and wasn’t highly propagandized because it was one achievement of many

This is the primary caveat for people who claim that the moon landing was fake
The USSR publicly verified and congratulated the US on the achievement

american space program been downsized since the breakup of the soviet union, sold off slowly to the private sector. too bad space exploration isn't profitable.
I think it’s literally the most significant achievement in the space race. Without That achievement the moon would have never happened. And I also think we have done much cooler things than landing on the moon since. Probes on Titan, landing on comets, voyager out as far as it is. I am personally more impressed by those achievements. Landing people on the moon was just the most dangerous thing they did lol
Tbh you could argue the same for the V2 rocket program, it was so far ahead of its time the NASA literally hired most of the n@zis involved to help them develop their own rockets
Regardless, I think the moon landing was probably more significant than landing probes on other planets etc, because THAT is the main celestial object we see in the sky aside from the sun. Sure other stars and planets are further away and thus more technically impressive, but landing on the moon is inherently more personal imo, it's quite literally exploring the last frontier of the human "domain".
You can reflect a laser off the moon where they left mirrors. To this day.
Low IQ conspiracy theory.

MJ debuting the moonwalk was way more impressive
the technology to fake the moon landing didn't even exist yet you couldn't fake slow motion with that type of broadcasting in 1969
ok ya but...
