F*** no. U give a homeless guy anything ONCE they will come back in droves. Can’t give them an inch
When one country with certain policies has a higher amount of homeless than another country with different policies, is it logical to say that those homeless people in the country with messed up policies are to blame?
When homelessness doubles in just a decade in a country after a set of policy changes, does it make sense to say that people got twice as dumb and just ignore the effects of those policies that were enacted?
Or could it be that certain economic factors on a macro level increase the chances that certain people will be put in positions that lead to their bad decisions having the worst possible effects?
I think you and the other people itt who are so eager to s*** on people who are already seen as less than human could figure out the answer to this if you cared to think about it a bit more rationally for a second.
I don't disagree with any of this, again I'm aware that other things factors into the homeless crisis going on in America, or just homelessness in general. Poor economic structures, lack of employment opportunities, classicism, systematic racism, a complete disregard to prioritize mental health and etc... I'm familiar with all of that, and nowhere in my initial post did I try to implicate that "bad decisions" are the main force/the only thing to blame for someone being homeless. I only meant that it is a contributing factor to consider when wanting to help someone.
Not that it even matters, because the whole boarder point that I was trying to make is their are more effective ways to help if all those issues you guys are listing is something you genuinely are passionate about fixing. Otherwise, directly giving a homeless person a couple bucks only helps to further enable their current situation, as terrible and insensitive as that sounds.
Maybe I'm stating the obvious in making this point, like of course any right minded person isn't gonna think offering a homeless person some spare change so they can buy a 4 for 4 is gonna suddenly bring them out of poverty. And maybe I'm a lowkey terrible person for immediately insinuating off the title alone that OP meant homeless people when he says "beggars", but ultimately I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing to question if offering change or food to a homeless person is actually doing anything for them.
Again, you'd be better off researching an organization that actually makes a difference.

Do you think that giving them something puts some sort of tracking device on you for all homeless people to see?

No charity is going to solve this crisis lmao. And why do you people always make this s*** seem like its one or the other? You can give someone on the street a meal or 10 dollars and still give to charities.

Regardless, I don't think it's necessarily fair to say someone is insensitive/a terrible person for preferring one method over other.
not often. generally give to swedes but i'll give the gypsies food or a few cigarettes. good for trading with others or if they smoke themselves. a lot of beggars (EU generally) here are victims of trafficking and the money doesn't go to them, it goes to their bosses. i'm not gonna fund that type of s***. i'd rather give them food so they can eat it.
if i lived in america i'd def give.
most of the time i unknowingly/knowingly fund their crack addiction so no
caught one buying a lighter to cook up his dose after I gave him 1 euro

Exactly. You'd think they'd get themselves a meal the way they speak to you, not entirely the case. S***'s a front
But this dudes been on the entrance of my freeway ramp for 3 years, he can walk, he can talk, and he does magic shows on the side of the freeway entrance. Like bruh he’s at least 40, get a F***ing job u bum get a gym membership, wash up go to the job and save up. Stop f***ing standing next to the freeway
I used to work at a college. Like a really expensive one. So they always had top tier food for the students there. They have like little to-go meals in these plastic containers they would just throw away at the end of the night.
I remember asking my supervisor if I could take them with me. So i load up my backseat with like a dozen of then. Planning on giving the to the homeless people at the intersections on my way home.
Dude asks me for some any spare dollars to get something to eat I’m like “nah but I got some food right here”. Dude takes the food and as I’m driving off I deadass see him throw it in the trash
Had this dude ask me for a dollar once. Took my wallet out, man saw a 5 dollar bill and man said “actually I’ll take the 5” I gave him the 5 but was the last time I ever gave money.
Same s*** happened to me lmao
But the fact is giving this money wasn’t gonna hurt me and this homeless old women clearly needed it so I was like f*** it even though I knew she was clearly swindling me. But she seemed like she needed.
I’m grateful for my living situation compared to these people
Hell naw. Because I’m from Chicago and my cousin literally knows 3 that do it as a side hustle and go back home and it definitely don’t end there.
ESPECIALLY when they wanna make some slick ass comments. Them mfs are real f***ing bold downtown. One time I was headed to a Weeknd concert at United Center and this mf wanna say “I see you in that fly ass coat I know you got some money.”
I said “I don’t got no cash.”
He gon say “It’s a ATM inside let’s go pull out a 20.”
Mfs gon start requesting specific amounts.
Usually no but it depends.
I've seen a group of "homeless" people begging for money but hiding an iPhone behind their sign. They would rotate out on who's turn it was to beg.
Other homeless people literally camp outside WalMart, my barber gives free haircuts to the homeless so they can look presentable and try to get a job. What's the point of standing outside these establishments when you could be standing inside and getting paid.
I always say sorry got no cash on me.... reality is I legit got no cash on me... I do all my s*** on card
I don't care what the use it for, they'll need those spare cents/dollars more than I ever will
