Humans have been seeing people die throughout their whole existence. Nowadays there are simply some people more sensitive than others

Lol youre just talking out of your ass

I concur. I remember reading about this actually.
Witnessing harm, death etc pre-internet was merely accessed by experience, invoking the natural response from our brains (fear, stress, fight or flight etc). Now we have access to footage of death, it invokes similar feelings but ultimately inauthentically. I compare it to p***. A facade that has a genuine influence on the brain, and not a positive one. Lasting effects.

Although, it’s been a fascination throughout history. Think public executions. Something about witnessing the conclusion of mortality, often violent, brings us closer to our own mortality.

Side note, I remember being young (early teens) witnessing “ISIS executions” out of my own morbid fascination and ignorance. What has that done to my Brain?

Other animals aren’t watching people die on twitter

Yeah they kill other animals themselves instead or see them get attacked by predators

Watchin' tapes of these kids gettin' killed
    Lookin' like me
    Cut that s*** off
    They can't desensitize me

Was never one of them liveleak kids growin up

  • Oct 19, 2022

I stopped watching them long ago. Any videos/images with gore, violence, murder I try to avoid. Highly recommend because It’s soul destroying

  • Oct 19, 2022

We were all curious kids on the internet , i think most zoomers who were addicted to the internet have gone thru a gore phase or atleast a disturbing video phase.
That being said, im glad they r now actively taking down gore sites. Most of the freaks who actively search for it and get off to it are forced into telegram chatrooms

But why are we talking about animals

We're animals, everything in nature witnesses death in one way or another, if not multiple ways. We might be more intelligent, but in theory wouldn't that have some impact on every creature with intelligence out there?

More of a thinking out loud kinda question really

    Tomorrow

I don’t mean to sound like one of those edgy gore lords but I have genuinely been seeing people get murdered online since I was like 8 years old, so my mind is pretty much numb to seeing that kind of thing atp, as sad as that sounds.

Now at 24 I’m not going out of my way to look at people dying, but if something pops up on Twitter or Reddit or something it’s not gonna ruin my day.

    this

  • Oct 19, 2022

I avoid even pictures of the dead, I don’t have the stomach for it. I do think it’s necessary to make it available though in a lot of cases

I’ve been desensitized to it for sure. I can watch most s*** without getting too upset as long as it’s not gory.

  • Jan 28, 2023

quite cynically, this has been a thing since the internet first started becoming a “thing” outside of limited usecases in research and universities and government (DARPA)

death videos and gore was some of the first content being shared around message boards and early file sharing services

On one hand I feel like if the general public had to watch some of that stuff maybe some s*** would get changed

On the other hand I was watching the spanish news channel once and they were just straight up showing people die in various different encounters. Idk how long they've done that, I didn't even know other countries news channels went that far with it

But I feel it kinda makes sense, cuz some places are dangerous as f***, and that s*** probably heightens awareness to stay safe
