I wouldn't be surprised, Women don't have as much to lose during the process and it's sad there's barely an equality achieved unless the couple do prenups on a yearly basis. I think that there has been an increased focus on developing the self in modern times rather than on the relationship.

Decisions are made based off the self rather than the whole, I don't know the cause I would assume gender roles shift in the 50- now with female individualism have to do with it. Not in any way insinuating that's a bad thing, I'm just saying I think that has a big part in the increased divorce rates. I also think that it's because it isn't as advantageous anymore, or at least the perception is that it isn't.

I personally have been in a long term relationship, and it's not something I debate doing. It is just coming terms with what it means in the modern day, doing it when it makes the most sence and preemptively set yourself up for it, it's pitfalls and the likelihood of it failing.
