Thug kept pushing into his 30s and went where the legends before him have gone and introduced us to the next generation in rap (Gunna and Baby) and production (Wheezy and Turbo) while dropping classic mixtapes and feature verses and building a strong crew (YSL) and influencing slang/fashion

My argument is that Thug doesn’t have too many hits. Yeah he’s on that Jamie xx song, pick up the phone, lifestyle, go crazy with Chris brown and helped TI secure a late career hit with about the money but after that what really is there? I think all of those songs (except T.I. And Lifestyle) Thug needed them more than they needed him tbh. This doesn’t take away from his fairly consistent discography and big influence on the culture tho

If someone was to tell me they got Thug over Keef, I can’t be mad at that. It’s a reasonable take. But saying Thug is waaay ahead of him is just something I can’t agree to.

When we talk about influencing the production, fashion, slang, classic records, etc Keef did all that early on as a literal child

I can understand where you’re coming from when bring up the label or him telling Baby to rap but personally I view that stuff as like a bonus.

We are still seeing an entire section of TODAY’s underground (kids 15+ years younger than Thug) emerging as pure thug clones

because Keef did it once at 16 but not the crew part as well? which is a conversation we have here all the time when it comes to an artists influence and impact, is their label building strength as well as it is a major factor
