He didn’t give us YB bro. YB f***ed with him on some gang banging s***. But his main sound is Boosie and Gates
And if we judge niggas by who they put on then Gucci would be up there with Wayne but we all know he isn’t
NBA signed with YSL in 2017 over Birdman and realesed 38 Baby and AI YoungBoy while he was YSL and those what blew him up so
and with wop I mean his list coulda have easily included a lot of our favorites today as he was first to them like Nicki, which he still regrets not signing when he had her first mixtape.
I’m simply stating that Thug was obviously responsible for Gunna, Baby, Turbo and Wheezy, and if that’s not enough to separate him from Keef then idk lol
I put him up there with Future for influence, Wayne is a notch above Future and Thug on influence though imo, Wayne is up there with Pac and Kanye
I agree that he's a notch below both in career success for sure though
But as far as music quality he's up there with both of them comfortably imo

He had paper work with him because of the gang banging s*** but nobody ever viewed him as a YSL artist at the time.

yeah…I don’t compare thug to Wayne or future for that matter in terms of career lol

he would only wear YSL chain and proudly show it off so
that’s enough for a lot of people
Everything besides metro thuggin is on streaming now no excuses left to down play the man

A lot of rappers had YSL chains throughout the years.
But the main point is we can’t act like Thug is way ahead of Sosa. The s*** thug did in his late 20s and early 30s, Sosa did that all before he was 20
Future and Wayne are the reasons why rap sounds the way it does today
Thug is a very influential subset of that
Discography wise future and Wayne are head and shoulders above thug, both have multiple cornerstone projects
Is this a joke?
Thug don’t even have solo hits.
Thug gave us gunna and lil baby who did future give us? Barter 6, im up, slime season trilogy alone literally puts him in the convo
they not ready to answer that one.
his last time working with his own label before signing Boston Richey was damn near a decade ago
i have thug over future personally

but Sosa stopped when he moved to LA and the focus became about building his production skills and Glo Entertainment/Gaming
Thug kept pushing into his 30s and went where the legends before him have gone and introduced us to the next generation in rap (Gunna and Baby) and production (Wheezy and Turbo) while dropping classic mixtapes and feature verses and building a strong crew (YSL) and influencing slang/fashion
I’m sorry, that deserves some more a***ysis to me
He’s definitely a step below future who is also a step below Wayne
My argument is that Thug doesn’t have too many hits. Yeah he’s on that Jamie xx song, pick up the phone, lifestyle, go crazy with Chris brown and helped TI secure a late career hit with about the money but after that what really is there? I think all of those songs (except T.I. And Lifestyle) Thug needed them more than they needed him tbh. This doesn’t take away from his fairly consistent discography and big influence on the culture tho
Edit: just remembered he did have that hit stoner
On influence, yes. On discography, hell no
The only reason Thug isn’t the most influential rapper ever is because Wayne exists

If someone was to tell me they got Thug over Keef, I can’t be mad at that. It’s a reasonable take. But saying Thug is waaay ahead of him is just something I can’t agree to.
When we talk about influencing the production, fashion, slang, classic records, etc Keef did all that early on as a literal child
I can understand where you’re coming from when bring up the label or him telling Baby to rap but personally I view that stuff as like a bonus.
We are still seeing an entire section of TODAY’s underground (kids 15+ years younger than Thug) emerging as pure thug clones
Future is far better than both

it’s a continuation of the influence on to the next generation, which is something we all value when discussing this but for some reason not here cause keef did it early as a kid
nice, he did. But Thug kept going, that’s the difference. It’s why niggas still arguing “Jordan 6 rings” is hilarious when Bron is 40 dropping 40 multiple times this year.
and he didn’t just tell Baby to rap, Gunna and him literally taught buddy

So many rappers from Chicago list Keef as an influence. We can’t say that doesn’t count just because he didn’t sign them on paper. Even Carti who’s one of the most influential today came in the game as a Keef son
Yes. I might put him above future
He’s definitely a step below future who is also a step below Wayne

Barter 6 is literally: Young Thug, The Hits ya’ll are severely underrating how massive that tape was everywhere

they list him as an influence, but was he actively in the studio helping them craft their careers and pushing them next to him?
so you see no value in Thug putting on
Gunna
Lil Baby
Wheezy
Turbo
signing them, rapping on all their music, pushing them as the new generation to focus on, and helping them establish their sound and fashion look and influence a whole new generation and taking them mainstream
because Keef did it once at 16 but not the crew part as well? which is a conversation we have here all the time when it comes to an artists influence and impact, is their label building strength as well as it is a major factor
I don’t even think I would even put Future next to Wayne
