Imo it is and I've been listening to Kanye for a very long time now
Idk I mean there’s Americana who listens to rap since like 2016 and he has better tales than a lot of ppl so idk how strong is the actual correlation
Yea that was the point I was trying to make. He understand dis s*** and he not too long been in it
Tbh if youre still listening to the same artist four years later, i know you cant be trusted
Like you mean as in not knowing they exist? Kinda hard to believe lmao. I mean I’m probably a example myself. I have never heard a full Jay z album until Magna Carta . I was in like 9th grade. Never heard pac and biggie full albums until I was 17. I didn’t particularly hear classics and impactful albums from late 70s 80s and 90s but I knew the people who was influential and s***. I think what most people want from new listeners is just to pay homage and be aware and acknowledge the ones who made the impact for hip hop culture.
He’d heard of Pac but didn’t know who he was. And as for Biggie, he had no clue who he was. Very peculiar considering he recorded over 20 songs.
And I think your attitude towards musical history is what everyone should have around 17-18. You may not have heard the greats but that dosent mean you should trash talk them and downplay your contributions. I’ll also never forget that thread you made
Your homies are real ones. I’ve posted this in another thread, but I have a friend who didn’t know who Biggie was until I told him about him last year. He raps sometimes which makes it even weirder. In 2018 he told me he didn’t know who Pac was either. I was like wtf, have you been living under a rock? I can understand not knowing let’s say, Styles P or Devin the Dude, but Pac and Biggie? Insane
we're prob about 5-6 years away from hearing from people in HS who have never heard a jay z song lmao

here’s ur blue bell notification bro 👍
People on this site too who have only listen to recent popular rap on the charts. Nothing wrong with that but don't act like a musical authority
people thinking that high sales indicates good music
another interesting topic but ill leave that for another day
Every artist ive ever stanned the f*** out of i f***ing hate now, and thats how it should be.

Ik plenty of people like this. How the f*** can you listen to the same s*** over and over again? Does it not get boring?

People roasting artists for low sales are the worst. Like f*** off you’ve never made a single song
However if they ain't do their due diligence listening to older albums or artist they shouldn't be making these bold statements
Example: "Nas discography is so trash"
I remember seeing an r/HHH thread where dudes haven't ever heard a Hov album before. That's crazy to me because Jay isn't some no name he is one the biggest rappers ever.

its not trash its just bit inconsistent because he started chasing trends
his best work is some greatest rap records all time though
