I was in like 9th grade. Never heard pac and biggie full albums until I was 17. I didn’t particularly hear classics and impactful albums from late 70s 80s and 90s but I knew the people who was influential and s***. I think what most people want from new listeners is just to pay homage and be aware and acknowledge the ones who made the impact for hip hop culture.
He’d heard of Pac but didn’t know who he was. And as for Biggie, he had no clue who he was. Very peculiar considering he recorded over 20 songs.
And I think your attitude towards musical history is what everyone should have around 17-18. You may not have heard the greats but that dosent mean you should trash talk them and downplay your contributions. I’ll also never forget that thread you made

He raps sometimes which makes it even weirder. In 2018 he told me he didn’t know who Pac was either. I was like wtf, have you been living under a rock? I can understand not knowing let’s say, Styles P or Devin the Dude, but Pac and Biggie? Insane
