I don't blame people who buy reps, its honestly so annoying to pay 300% more because some idiot decided to buy all of them.

AF1s are sold out every time and dudes are reselling them for 250 bucks lmfaoo.
Id rather buy a 1:1rep then pay for that.

But those who buy reps from really expensive brands just so they can flex are WOAT.

I wouldn't even look twice at someone wearing af1s to know if theyre fake or not I guess that's more reasonable

The whole point of wearing a hype shoe is that you didnt spend 120 on it

I think I'll make another thread soon on this

Are reps of archival fashion/old sneakers that haven't been retro'd a good thing for consumers?

It would be an interesting prompt for discussion, especially among fashionheads with the current wave of redux/re-releases happening among labels.

I just wanna buy some Jordans man they killed the game

  • May 7, 2021

I wouldnt mind buying reps but counterfeit goods are funding terrorism & criminals activities so you better stay off that from an ethic point (not saying nike/adidas are angels but u kno)

but what is inferior about someone who does it?

that's what im asking, i see this cringy brand loyalty d***riding superiority complex from the fashion/sneaker community when it comes to replicas when you're all feeding into the f***ing beast of consumerism and these companies don't give a f*** about you, they just want as much money possible, that's why artificial scarcity exists, it is what generates hype and capital for nike/adidas/etc.

you're all consumers, you're not better than one another because of what you choose to purchase and how you purchase it

that's why i hate these s***ty moral arguments when it's not down to that at all

it's just people mad that other people can get "limited shoes" and circumvent the bullshit that comes with the current game, thus they're seen as "posers" because they didn't spend the ludicrous amount of money made to set up bots or pay resale

there's nothing wrong with either and i partake in purchasing authentic garments myself and i know how it feels, but it's just good to be grounded and not on a high horse

Bro you are arguing some totally different s*** to what I'm saying.

I know I went a bit off-track but what I wanted to say is that of course no one is immune to the hype train, that is obviously what makes these things appealing, but what is necessarily wrong when people circumvent the system of rigged drops and raffles and that hype, to decide to go with another product? I have not seen any substantial argument besides ethics (which is understandable) to purchase authentic hype sneakers.

If people actually chose a different product there would be no problem

not an good argument either, buying retail priced/resold sneakers is to fulfill that same purpose anyways

How ain’t it a good argument? People buy reps of hype s*** to stunt / shoe off.

The main reason isn’t cus they like the shoe. It’s to pretend you have something expensive when you don’t

I pay Yeezys on StockX but only if the price isn’t too crazy

I genuinely don’t give a s*** if you buy reps but if you stuntin like they real or sell them and pass them off as real, is my issue

And that’s what 99% of people who buy reps do

Fam there is no logical argument for buying authentic hype sneakers its literally because you have money to burn

  • May 7, 2021

If you don't have money to burn then hype sneakers aren't for you

    I certainly don’t buy that.

That’s like saying if you buy an authentic pair, you’re only wearing it to flex how much money you got cause their resale price is a lot

I mean I never posted pics of my shoes on social media. I never went around bragging how much the resale price of my shoes are. 95% of people who see your shoes literally don’t a give af about them or have no idea what they even are.

I guess really my ONLY reason for being against reps is when buying “hype” shoes on the 3rd Market (StockX, GOAT, eBay, etc)

I don’t wanna have a small doubt in the back of my mind that these shoes MIGHT be fake.

Like the 3 pairs of Yeezys I got in today from StockX. They 100% seem legit, but there’s always that small 1% chance they might be a good fake and that bothers me

Shady people that try to one up you when you just wonna make an honest purchase

And THATS my issue with reps. Which is a LARGE / most of the market

How old are you? I'm in college and I feel like everyone I know knows what a travis scott aj1 looks like and if we see someone wearing some we start assuming things
