To me they sound similar and it’s not a good sound so both are true to me personally.

I’ll always remember how some users on here referred to TPAB as “black trauma p***

A lot of yall lack the critical thinking skills for conscious rap so u try to belittle it

Trap beats have hurt hip hop more than fans will want to admit. Every gd beat is basically the same. The same thumping bass that overpowers a record.

Listen to Biggie songs, Pac songs, Cube etc....their records will and have aged better than Future's, Travis's, Carti, Thug--anyone you want to mention from the last 10 years or so that operates in that lane. Heard One More Chance Remix yesterday and the beat still s***s on any beat ive heard in years and it's so simple, in comparison lol trap beats don't really allow for much room. Even if you want to make a conscious record over that type of beat--message gets lost unless you are an elite MC.

That’s why it’s important to get Draka outta here ASAP

i love drake but his modern antics absolutely played a role. the same is even truer for kanye

It’s not all the same and this just 3 songs from 1 year

  • Dec 12, 2024

Doechii has dealt with this perfectly tbh

Her being unjustifiably hated with that Harriet Tubman music tweet has lead to an increase of her stardom aswell

  • Dec 12, 2024

even party music of the 00s and early 10s had more flavor, soul and personality than the ones of today but that's mainly due to the fact kids today don't be partying like that.

  • Dec 12, 2024

like i'm all for fun party music, i think just dudes today lost the sauce. the production isn't there and neither is the songwriting.

This was in response to the recent trend of people labeling introspective hip-hop as lame and calling it ‘Harriet Tubman’ music

    Straight up anti-intellectualism.

Reeks of similar rhetoric to people calling anything not Marvel/Disney of being “pretentious, artsy euro/foreign language s***.”.

that’s all i’m trying to say. Like it’s a bop but at some point there has to be more depth to the sonics. The DIY thing was fun but then it became the norm and that’s not okay.

Y’all bringing up Youngboy & Sauce Walka just tells me you don’t get the whole picture of what niggas are talking about. 50 was a street rapper to his core and his music had soul to it. Mobb Deep music had soul to it. Dipset had soul to it. That same soul is what Kendrick has. It’s more than what you’re talking about, it’s HOW you talk about it.

Those niggas mentioned do not have soul to their music man.

there isn’t gonna be an honest conversation about how much of the gas Future and friends got was tied to poptimism for a very long time

I can’t imagine supporting the “let ppl have fun 🥺” s*** knowing where this country is headed for the next decade.

s***s not a game anymore, never was but now i feel nauseous every time i see ppl let this anti-intellectual s*** rock.

”that’s why another god damn dance track gotta hurt”

  • It's also coon and c***shit to disrespect jazz rap or soul samples in hip-hop

why are niggas like YoungBoy and Future even being brought up in here in the first place?

their artistry isn’t dismissed more often than basically anybody else’s that doesn’t align with the mainstream sound of the genre at all lol, no clue why they’re even being talked about in here

It'll never happen until they get called out and shunned by hip-hop artists (old and new) in the industry.
