Do antidepressants actually work? I talked with someone for a few years and it helped a little but I haven’t seen any major improvement.

I’m not suicidal anymore (thank God), but I still feel sad, mentally and physically exhausted, and feel helpless and worthless most of the time. When I’m around even my beat friends I can still feel lonely. I’m just tired of this. It’s so stressful.

    Worked for me somewhat

Antidepressants really work lol. You legit can’t be sad while on them, but the downside is all your feelings/emotions get dulled out

It’s cool to use temporarily, just so you can remove the fog & see the forest from the trees, but not good for long term imo. Gotta be able to feel things!

i started Lexapro at the beginning of this year after struggling with depression for 10 years, the last 5 of which i was doing therapy, meditating, exercising, journaling, etc.

i would feel good for some time when i brought in some new practice but would always return to that baseline of moderate to severe depression

anyway the meds changed the game. last few months been the least depressed months of my adult life. don't be afraid to give them a shot if you tried other stuff

My uncle is a doctor & he gave me the golden rule of 1 beer is now 2 beers when you’re on Lexapro so I always took that advice

You can drink with it, just go slow

F*** no lmao I am a huge stoner & never ever felt any effects mixing weed & Lexapro. Ever, and I smoke an ounce a month at least. Not saying that to brag, just to tell you there’s no caution you need to bring when smoking weed while on Lexapro

That’s not true, you’ll get it back easily. And your s***drive doesn’t get affected, you just have a harder time achieving an o***** is all

I've just been waking up with way worse anxiety than ever before if I smoke. Probably has more to do with my bad diet though

weed rly stokes the flames of anxiety sometimes

i would always take that as a sign to smoke less or take a break tbh

Yeah this good advice if you feel like that Enoch just take a break or wait until the medication starts showing signs it’s working before getting stoned

  • Apr 20, 2022

idk, it depends, I tried Zoloft and it ended up making my anxiety/depression worse. I'm now on prozac and it's helped a lot.

I haven't been on any myself

My friends have and they have mixed opinions. Some have bad side effects including libido suppression, feeling 'muted' etc. Others work just fine with them

Personally if i take care of myself physically (diet, exercise, sleep) then it helps my mood a lot, especially if I spend time in the sun.

However it's not as simple as that I think. Having a few goals keeps me dreaming and I also make sure to have a creative outlet.
