This is by no means a low-key brag post, but I'd love to get your thoughts on this.

I consider myself stylish and a pretty cool person. However, when I'm around my friends, sometimes I feel like they're trying to show me that they're "cool" too. Its weird.

I'll feel self conscious about wearing jewelry around them because I don't want to outshine them. Or even my whole wardrobe in general. I feel like it can be intimidating at times.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

Once again - Not trying to brag, but just seeing if anyone else has experienced being "too cool" around your friends.

    I know what you mean

Essentially being the only one in your friend group who would even be on a site like this keeping up with certain trends or dressing better lol

For me ive noticed the dynamic, they even clowned me when i was wearing baggy s*** in like 2018 and then doubled back and jokingly gave me credit for being ahead now that thats in style lmao but it hasnt realy manifested into anything other than jokes and s*** lol

But i get the dynamic u mean bc i assume they clowning you on here lmaooo

Are you uncomfortable because you feel like your friends are competing with you, or you feel like they're below you?

    Yep

OP has to also realize these his friends for a reason lmaoo. He prolly wouldnt stand out as much if he hung out with 4 or 5 other equally stylish charismatic attractive dudes which is subconsciously probably why they make op comfortable on top of them probably being “the bros” to begin with lol

Nah ppl just try to humble u

I consider myself very cool, but on a daily basis I talk with homeless folks, people considered as "weird" whatever

If ur cool, u fit everywhere
    That's what makes u cool
The way u carry yourself in your own norms
But those norms being fluid enough for u to be accessible everywhere

Ur not too cool for anything really
    That's arrogance

It's the ppl around u, that will make u feel uncomfortable for being you, a cool person
Cause they're insecure and not cool with themselves

Being irl cooler than your friends can be exhausting for me bc i feel pressured to maintain the appearance, and i don’t really get vulnerable with my emotions around them, but i do appreciate the ego boost.

I’ve noticed there are terminally online people who think they’re cool bc they follow all these online trends and have niche interests that normies don’t know about, but a lot of it comes as cringe, and they can come off as the guy standing at the corner of a party judging everyone meme. R/redscarepod is v guilty of this, although they’re washed by internet standards too
