It's organic in the way that she has a lot of talent and she checks every box a popular rapper should check. TDE has been developing her for years and they just truly unleashed her this year. Yeah they are using industry connections and their reputation to uplift her and put her in the spotlight but she deserves it
Feel like that's all I said and niggas were still upset about what I said.
Again, will just never understand why it's wrong for people to say that Doechii got an excessive push that came off as them forcing her down people's throats and we all have eyes that can clearly see it happening lol
Son literally within the first hour her mixtape dropped it was a bunch of big name artists crawling out the woodworks calling it the best project to drop this year. So many of the hip-hop blogs and Twitter accounts posting it non-stop, and mind you many of them have already been exposed for being paid to post for labels. I don't know why people think this was not done for her. Shorty somehow became a household name in just a couple weeks, and frankly that just doesn't match the sales of those first couple weeks.
It'd be one thing if this was like a slow build throughout the year kinda thing. But this s*** was literally instantaneous. And I know a lot of people will try and do the "Well she had a huge song with SZA! 🤓" as a means to explain it. That song was two f***in years old and I guarantee you the average person was calling that a SZA track and still had no idea who tf Doechii was. In fact, you'd probably find a bunch of people who have become Doechii fans after her tape be surprised that it was her on Persuasive lol
Y'all are f***ing crazy dawg
So much fake s*** on social media that y'all can't tell no more what's genuine and what's fake
I was there and people actually liked the music and talked about the MUSIC, and she had a great rollout for her tape where she was releasing a music video on social media every week
Here's an artist that's being pushed rn just like Ice Spice was, overly sexual with no real history and popped outta no where, many engagement farming tweets for her garbage song
They're not even trying to hide it because it's all bs meme pages pushing it, with Doechii it was actual people who talk about music like Dissect Podcast etc
Doechii already had a huge following before this
Her come up is organic for modern times. There's no real Hip Hop/Street media anymore, before you get to mainstream media, so yea, it feels inorganic in a sense. Making the cover of Rolling Stone for a rapper back in the day meant "crossover appeal", now there apart of the media run.
Thing about Hip Hop selling out like it is though, is that more popular doesn't more more cash, just more middle men and less hustle.
Like does an artists rise to fame happening “organically” or not genuinely affect how you enjoy the music?
idg why some these niggas even care like they’re actively looking for music without some push behind it lol
same site always going on about mysterious music

Rap is a dumpster fire right now lol.

But I mean that's just marketing. You're not going to get mainstream approval without a push like this. There is no such thing as an organic superstar if you think somebody like Doechii is getting forced down our throats. We just havnt truly seen this in a decade with a rapper.
She has the talent and the respect which is organic. She has the stage presence and the "it" factor. to me it's forced when it's something like manufacturing drama between Central Cee and Ice Spice to put their names in headlines for a week or two. All they're doing with Doechii is putting her on Tiny Desk and Narduar and Colbert
it’s been amazing to watch her take the slow grind process, the album had its biggest streaming day despite being out since august
a lot of artists front load their marketing and give up on the album once it drops.
what you’re witnessing is the marketing dollars not being spent until AFTER the album and tour, meaning that when people are discovering her through performance shows or interviews or whatever it may be, they can go digest the whole album at once. meanwhile her core fans are already loving it so there’s a mix of fan word of mouth, new awareness from people that haven’t heard of her, and people who only slightly heard of her being made into fans
i notice that whenever marketing is done correctly, some people take it as inorganic. usually it’s a bad faith argument. but this is what happens when the label does its job right and has great strategy.
most smart indie artists i know adopt this strategy, after my album i put out 2 music videos, a short film, docu series, did a press run and self produced interview pieces. and that’s just phase 1. i saved almost all the content for after the album
is out though
threads like this that remind me that it's a really small percentage of KTT'ers that are actually in the music industry and that most people that make these kind of threads and just post don't really know how s*** works but just assuming
@localblaccmane and the rest of the thread's conspiracy theorists doing the eurostep past @willcherry post cause none of yall have a rebuttal for it and it ruins yall paper thin narratives is chefs kiss
Not for nothing, I'm also kinda curious as to why it's such a big thing for people to admit that Doechii's push has been forced. We've seen this sort of thing a bunch of times and have never had a problem calling it what it is. But apparently when it comes to saying Doechii got that forced push it's wrong and "People just hate darkskin women"
people do hate darkskin women though? what is wrong with you
I saw Doechii get a packed crowd at Columbia University in 2023 and that s*** was pretty much open to the public and that stage presence was off the chain.
Yall niggas be extra
it's a great thing NONE of yall niggas is A&Rs.

Kinda sad that there'll never really be another Kendrick Lamar/GKMC situation. Mainstream media wasn't anywhere near checking for Kendrick, even when Swimming Pools dropped, only rap circles were checking for his (major label)debut. Then GKMC leaked, the music and message just hit hard, it transcended Hip Hop cause of how great it was, and how it had people talking about it.
Back then, I knew an album was a classic/transcendent when street/trap guys, or white kids, were checking for new Kanye/Kendrick/Wayne, cause the media told them "this is the pinnacle of Hip Hop. You can argue TPAB, but GKMC just felt like the last rap album to make people really pay attention and respect Hip Hop as an artform, not another music genre trying to sale itself into oblivion.
Y'all got y'all minds f***ed up
50 Cent ruined music discourse for generations having niggas focusing on the number.
I was very early to her so I saw her come up in real time. What I saw was an artist drop some songs, blow up on TikTok and then sign to tde sounds organic enough
Industry plant but ppl like her so…
Is what it is.
Def wouldn't say she's a plant cause she been around. I'm moreso curious as to why she ain't the push she's been getting this year when she dropped She/Her/Black B****.
My only guess is that she was considered "too weird" back then.

bro does this to everybody on this board
people disagree with him and then he takes it personally and acts like folks are out to get him lol

The label wants to push her. It may come off as inorganic to u but they are doing their job so…

Okay...where were they at with their job when She/Her/Black B**** dropped? They did her like they been doing Zacari and Lance Skiiiwalker lol

She was getting playlisted around that time. TDE was sewing the seeds I’m saying all of this as someone who thinks doechii is slightly above “ok”

Zacari and Lance Skiiiwalker just aint good
Whenever I see that performance with her, and her hair braided against those other 2 girls and the person posting it says "this is real art" I can't help but think I'm being sold something
