Dec 22, 2020·2 repliesI don't see how borrowing the surface aesthetic without necessarily committing to its values is the worst thing. Plenty of artists do it. Punk as it originally was went commerical anyway, and the underground scene evolved.
Now, if he started acting like he was second coming of the Punk genre or something, I'd be annoyed, but he's merely translating the aesthetic to fit his own merits.
I agree about his capitalistic slant, although that's a broader issue entirely and one you can't fully pin on him
Also this is a good thread OP. Discussion is needed about this and I think we will be able to explore it further once we hear WLR in full.
