I rarely find a traditional comedy movie funny at all, dark comedies way better imo

cant be straight comedy has to be mixed with something else that makes you wonder if it was a comedy or not

They try but they're just never funny. The Nice Guys is probably the best comedy I've seen in theatre. Vice and the Big Short were pretty funny but not as funny as TNG.

Game Night was surprisingly good too.

exactly. when comparing the 2000s to the 2010s, its night and day

big short and wolf of Wall Street probably the 2 funniest movies of 2010s. and theyre dramas about serious s*** smh.

comedy in dire state

IMO Crowe and Gosling were just incredible in TNG. Hilarious movie. I really loved The Big Short too, as a guy in finance I found it quite accurate and funny. I had forgot about the Wolf of Wall Street but yeah, another great movie.

But I've never been one for s***ty cheap comedies of the 2000s. I saw a guy post a big list of older comedies and I only found one of those kinda funny, the Other Guys and maybe 4 total were good imo.

I think it's the mood of the political climate OP, like how Zoolander flopped because it was released on 9/11

Yeah they couldn’t say maggot anymore but everything else would be fine lol

a lot of comedy movies mid on repeat viewings.
Some of them never get old though.

The genre is better left in the past to me though.
We have more potential for more unique movies to be made leaving it there.

A quality comedy movie is hard to make. One that is profitable is even harder

Comedies and Romantic movies have been bombing for years so now they dont even go to theaters anymore. They're all on demand movies or TV shows now

We get like 1 - 2 comedies that are good now.
