Travis has become one of the biggest artists in the world, but his sound hasn't changed much over the years. It's usually heavy trap inspired, drowning in auto-tune, with the same ab-lbs ("it's lit") sprinkled in.
I'm a big Travis fan, but feel like he lacks the ability to do something fresh and take a big risk on this next album.
He definitely pushes the envelope on certain elements but still feels contained in that singular sound he came up on.
I personally would love to see him going more left field with a project and really show his range. Feel like he'd kill a semi-experimental album given his creativity.
Going to be in heavy rotation either way for me. But feels like there's so much untapped potential with him.
Also, please DO NOT repost my avatar and mock my beautiful family.
Bruh u trolling?
Birds rodeo dbr none of those albums sound remotely similar
Even astroworld is some entirely different s***
he recently said he's been inspired by Honestly Nevermind and Utopia will be a house album
Nah his sound has progressed and become more experimental imo.
The only thing that travis is lacking are his lyrics. He doesn't rap about anything substantial. Even when he attempts to, its mostly about nothing (e.g. Coffee Bean).
I haven't enjoyed a Travis Scott song in awhile. It started with that terrible song Franchise

mafia?
Yup, his sound in the trap scene when he was on the come-up was unique, but it grew stale over the years.
I'm still excited for "Topia", but I'm not expecting it to f*** the game up.

stale is def what i'm thinking too
Travis Scott's discography lacks new music so I have no idea how to meaningfully discuss this until Utopia drops. It's been 5 years.

I'm normally a traditionalist & don't really f*** with Trap music whatsoever.
But Trav def caught my ear early on.
Especially with "DBR" & "Rodeo".
"Birds" onward however
They aren't bad albums per-say, but they just all began to mesh at that point.
Which is why artists like Kendrick & Kanye (especially in the mainstream) are so needed cause they continue to push the soundscape of our culture.
Also keeps their sound fresh (even though I don't really f*** with Ye's s*** as of late, but still admire that he's trying new things)
