    wow ktt2 sleeping

this games f***ing crazy so far. well worth the wait and i’m only at the first boss

Are the Doom hunters the first boss or was this just an introduction to the enemy type ?

    ongod

    the enemy variety
the depth of the combat with saving smaller enemies for farming and several brutal attacks for farming armor, health and ammo
    the guns
    the abilities and skill trees
    the platforming
    the design, graphics and optimization
    the soundtrack
everything about this game is great. ive been disappointed by most games lately, this hit the f***ing bullseye

Saving the smaller monsters is lowkey anti Doom since in the original you always had to deal with the hit scanners (shotgunners and chaingunners) first

    S*** is confusing me

    Doom 64 is goat

Only problem is that you always have to press switches that open up random doors on the entire map

Like in the older doom games, most switches interact with objects near the player

In 64 you sometimes have to check the entire map again after hitting a switch.

Lol that’s the part I just beat. I’m assuming they’re a boss but maybe they reappear on rare occasions like the boss enemies from the original games

Yeah I love the level design in these old shooters but sometimes they can be a bit obtuse.

64’s atmosphere and music is so dope tho. Reminds me of Quake 1. Like it’s got the fast paced action gameplay but the music and enemies and environments are scary af

Quake 1 and 2 are great but the Steam versions don’t have the music. some licensing issue or something

You can mod them back in though which is what I did. They’re both really different too. They’re both fast paced shooters but 1 is more like a horror game. You’re all alone with creepy ass music and enemies in gothic castles and s***. 2 is more actiony. You have a commander talking to you over the radio, the enemies are aliens with guns instead of creepy demon monsters, and the music is Doom style rock songs instead of Silent Hill ambience like the first

Oh and btw I just beat Doom 64 on Hurt Me Plenty equivalent difficulty and it's crazy how you can upgrade that laser gun to destroy cyberdemons in 5-10 seconds

Gonna play the Lost Levels next followed by the main game again on Ultra Violence equivalent difficulty

I think most would say yes. I personally prefer 2016's more relaxed vibe compared to this where it is much more survival-based in a sense since ya arent as OP and have to conserve ammo more often. It plays mostly the same tho.
