Dozens of people have died in Canada amid an unprecedented heatwave that has smashed temperature records.

Police in the Vancouver area have responded to more than 130 sudden deaths since Friday. Most were elderly or had underlying health conditions.

They said the heat was a contributing factor in many cases.

On Tuesday, Canada recorded its highest ever temperature for a third straight day - 49.5C (121F) in Lytton, British Columbia.

it doesnt help that the paramedics are understaffed here and they have been taking hours in extreme cases to respond to calls, sometimes never even showing up. the dispatch are not allowed to hang up until an ambulance is dispatched so its been taking like 20mins just to call them

The sad thing is it's too late. This is happening because of the pollution from even before the 90's. Do yall realize how hot the earth is about to get in the next few decades because of everything we're doing now? It's not like we're all suddenly going to stop tomorrow. We're f***ed and the big corporations are f***ing the next generation even harder. If any of yall got kids I really pray for them.
