what will those with the power to change these conditions do?

tell the people they have to work harder to fight against pollution that they’re not responsible for

Nobody thinks they’re responsible but we’re all complicit in this.

    We Didnt Like That

The sad thing is it's too late. This is happening because of the pollution from even before the 90's. Do yall realize how hot the earth is about to get in the next few decades because of everything we're doing now? It's not like we're all suddenly going to stop tomorrow. We're f***ed and the big corporations are f***ing the next generation even harder. If any of yall got kids I really pray for them.

All around the world they weep now they know it's true / The sun's returned to send us home to earth

Everybody takes their time making work to do / but no one will be left here to remember us.... When the fires come

we’re not the ones who induce the demand for this ourselves

like how can we as everyday workers be willfully complicit when the opposite path to our lifestyle is starving and dying

it’s up to people like billionaires and politicians to stop thinking about short term investments and easy money because there’s a LOT that we have to change

Ehh, yes and no. Obviously we all have a personal responsibility to not be wasteful. But, what is turning off my A/C for a few hours going to do compared to Times Square in New York? Corporations are the source for the majority of our pollution issues, but they've done a good job marketing that it's the people's fault.

This is such a bad take. Several big industries blatantly lying and manipulating to keep pumping out bad product and your take away is "Take some responsibility dude"

The sad truth is that they NEVER will.

People outside of power will have to take action into their own hands. I'm not sure what type of action would be effective to shift us away from our current path but I know for a fact that this shift will not start by passing laws or regulations on polluters.

People are going to be displaced from their homes and killed by this environmental holocaust at greater and greater rates and eventually that pain will have to be directed somewhere.

The book Ministry of the Future lays out a scenario that seems realistic given recent events. In the book, a terrible heatwave kills millions in India and it causes a group of people, traumatized by the destruction, to become eco-terrorists, attacking things like power plants and large scale industrial farms.

yup, i don't think we can reasonably count on the govt and those in power to make change. we don't have time to wait 10, 20, 30 years until all the boomers die to make change at the top. i wouldnt place the blame directly on the people, but the way society has evolved into just insane overconsumption of everything screwed us. so people really need to start "voting" with their wallets and thinking about where they're spending their money and on what. and even then, i doubt more than 10% of the population would be willing to make drastic change in their consumption habits soooooo

I mean, this is bordering on revolutionary “get the guillotines prepped” action at this point.

We breed a consumer based culture through marketing and advertising by convincing people they NEED these products in their lives, otherwise they face being ostracized by their peers.

Many products are also literally manufactured with the intent of them eventually breaking so that the consumer is forced to cast it aside and buy another, whether it be a newer model or the same one.

It’s an endless feedback loop of manufacturing and consumption that was, in itself, manufactured and continues to be consumed.

Every quirk was either carefully considered and intentionally implemented beforehand, or leaned into when it was discovered to benefit overalls profit margins.
