Does 3 actually work well as a prequel? I just went to the wiki and the release order is 1-2-3.
Personally I feel like release order is always the way to go since prequels that come later on can hint/callback to games prior in the series. Honestly I still hate that they did it this way lmao

Better Call Saul is a good example of this.

I am not really a fan of JRPGs but to anyone interested in this game, I can highly recommend it and the Dragon Quest series in general. DQ3 is like the predecessor to open world rpgs like Skyrim imo.

3 is a real deal prequel. Saying anything else is a spoiler.

The problem is that the reveal of 3 as a prequel was a surprise when it originally released. I agree that it makes little sense to start with 3 other than for financial reasons (3 is the most popular DQ title in Japan).

Depends on how much of a graphical hit the Switch takes and how load times are. We already know it’s running at 30.
PS5 is 60fps, looks to have more graphical flourishes and virtually no load times

Switch 2 can't come soon enough. I'm hopping the graphics don't take a hit. I'm not too worried, because the Octopath games look great on Switch.
Same team, so I can't imagine it'd be worse.

I want the PS5 performance. But I feel like this game is best portable
