This was not the best OVO fest but the retail price was fair to see Lil Wayne alone.

Drake's set list was odd...that whole breakdown of the laugh now cry later and then honestly nevermind songs really took the crowd out of it.

No guests and a late start you can't blame people. The ending was great though. Fun night but if you paid $300+ for lawns I would not find it worth it at all

There were parts that really didn’t even feel like Ovo Fest. No exclusive merch, no special stage design, no big surprise guests. As a Young Money Reunion concert it was pretty great, but for Ovo Fest definitely the least hyped one I’ve been to.

And I’m still mad he didn’t perform Massive. That track is made to be heard live at Budweiser Stage

Has anyone ID’d the song with piano that drake walks out to?

  • Aug 8, 2022

Yeah definitely. Doesn’t sound like Yebba singing it in the beginning to me. It’s beautiful. Hope it releases. I wonder if it was just something she recorded for CLB that they never used

I agree on most of this, I was on the floor.

Wayne and Nicki were so special, but again, Drakes setlist choice was ODD. For so long I’ve seen him guest appear, tour and do whatever else while always being so spot on / aware of the song choices that will resonate with the crowd. It felt like the Kanye concert all over again where the energy was sucked out after the crowd barely found it back from waiting hella long in the heat.

You watch Nicki and Wayne perform classic hits and then Drake goes up there and doesn’t even dip into classics while feeling the need to address the haters about his new s*** and slow down the whole vibe into a weird ass rendition of LNCL, a song which would have been unreal played normally… it’s like bro, we are all here cause we love you and your new s*** too.

The night was incredibly special to me and unforgettable seeing them all up there but Drake honestly fumbled what could have been his most epic shows of all time so easily, a celebration of their careers and the city, by continuing his subpar setlist choices (since the pandemic)

Well based off your post, it doesn’t sound like they liked Drake’s new s*** lol

Thing is, he never marketed it as OVO Fest, it was like “road to OVO fest / young money reunion” but then just said “happy OVO fest” the next morning lol

I was pleasantly surprised how well Sticky played live but was also confused why the hell Massive wasn’t even touched

    I meant strictly HNM
But to the rest of it prior like CLB etc, yes I don’t think some of that plays well.

I get it, he wanted to play songs that he hasn’t before but how are you gonna do that after the two greatest rappers before you just opened with their classics, again

That’s a shame they don’t react to it. I didnt watch his set yet but I feel like Knife Talk, Way 2 Sexy, Girls Want Girls, should ring off pretty well imo
