I mean... is that true though? Sure, none of the other artists have experienced massive commercial success, but does that mean the label is poorly run? Seems like the artists aren't displeased and can drop the music they want to drop with regularity. We only know what we know I guess but I just don't see a lot of evidence to make the claim that it hasn't been "good ran"

by the same metrics we hold other artist-ran labels at bro

People put their idea of what a label should do for artists on OVO without even knowing what the deal between the artists and OVO Sound looks like.

All OVO artists have complete creative freedom and are financially independent (enough) to not needing a job. For most musicians that's the dream.

Imo it seems Daniel (the singer of dvsn) wanted to be bigger and didn't like Drake. But since they are out of OVO they have released 2 singles and have not improved their standing at all.

Majid ain’t happy neither wether they gone public enough isn’t up to me to say… and yeah they have gone indie but can’t say that ovo is ran well neither

I think Majid werent happy with he distro OVO used whether it was republic/umg or santa ana/sony(where they are now) the label itself they are content with but came up with issues when it comes to upstreaming

I predict OVO and drake moving as its own stand alone with the gamma structure and investment from A VC to pay for it

  • Jay Z and Charlemagne rubbing their hands: yes Drake fight the industry by establishing another Jewish owned record label

I don't really remember where I got that info from.

I remember Daniel doing an interview with Mal and some rumors here and/or on Reddit.

I am still a dvsn fan and will also listen to their music outside of OVO as long as it is good.

What are those metrics then dawg? I consider a poorly run label one where you literally have the artists complaining about how the label is holding back their music, preventing them from dropping, exhibiting high levels of creative hinderance, etc. I don't see any of that from OVO

    Pretty much

Hah, you didn’t see that fool standing on top of the world innovating stage design a month ago?

Drake dropped a 3 pack of mid drake albums.
The only saving grace were the visuals, Gillis, and the fact that maid of honor was up beat.

  • I could see him probably just using sony distribution like ovo does
