Funny enough this just got uploaded, and it's horrible. He has the weirdest critiques and just s***s on Drake's character for most of the video. I think people just hear things about Drake and form an opinion on that rather than actually giving his music a fair shot.

    This video partially inspired this

This guy loves the motm albums then proceeds to s*** on take care

TC literally just a more polished and improved take on that style

Watched this video today, too. Bit it shows how much expectation can mess up your expierence of an album.

He released another video, where he explained himself a bit more.

And he confirms, that he had certain expactations because of all the opinions he heard beforehand.

It’s so dumb too drake isn’t more self absorbed or sappy or materialistic than a kanye or like literally any other type of rapper lol

Drake albums are sloppy bro. His albums slap and all but with the exception Take Care, NWTS, and maybe half the songs on views he’s no where near in the same league as the “foward thinking artist” like Ye, Kendrick, Frank etc when it comes to ATTENTION TO DETAIL. He’s shows flashes here and there but he can’t sustain it throughout the course of the entire album anymore.

He def should be able to, the talent is definitely there, the resources are there, he can rap his ass off and he sings better than any other rapper. He’s just f***ing lazy man. He chose to be that way.

The problem with y’all stans is y’all can’t hear lol. Y’all have no ear for production/mixing decisions such as a particular snare or kick being fire or there being some dope ass distortion on an instrument or vocal or a particular synth sounding amazing, etc. Or on the other end of the spectrum a lot of yall have no concept of an arrangement being cliche, safe, or predictable. That’s what Drake music has been for a long time. It doesn’t challenge the listener at all.

Yall just think to yourselves “He can rap and he can sing and his beats go hard why doesn’t he get the acclaim bro??!!”

    Y’all will never get it

Nobody listens to music to be “challenged” lmao
    Thats some nerd s***
Yall niggas need to challenge yourself to get some b****es

Pretty interesting dissection of one of my favorite drakes songs. No one else in hip hop is doing this like him. It’s complexity made to seem simple which is the hardest thing

This is so fire. Scorpion is aging amazing for me.

Problem with Drake is he never left his comfort zone. If you have heard one of his projects, you've heard everything he's ever had to say. Kanye, Frank, Kendrick all have a much wider subject matter and can transcend the rap listener in ways Drake just hasn't done yet.

He literally makes similar types of music to the guys music virgins worship like frank ocean and kanye

He just makes more maximalist version of that style and leans into the mainstream more lol but really they’ll have you believe it’s a case of a pop construction being the biggest artist on earth when it’s more like the best artist being the biggest artist. He reminds me of what the smiths did in the late 80s for indie rock, but like musically drake is in the same ball park as all the “forward thinking” guys

On the sonic and structural level there’s like no difference between a song like toosie side or provider lol

Honestly he IS in that level of artistry just a fact but a lot of so called objectively music fans (fantano types) be getting caught up in perception and narrative

Drake makes music like Frank Ocean???

Drake doesnt really have anything to say - the formula is predictable: women using him, f***ing on groupies, being on top of the Rap game, Toronto of course, making money, his Dad in some form.

I just want him to tap into subject matter that he hasn't given a shot yet.

    My only point

Obviously he’s not frank but he’s wayyy closer to a frank or an andre or a tyler or a ye or a pharell than he is to an ed sheeran lol, like that should just be clear to anyone who calls themself a fan of music

How on Earth is Drake like Tyler in any way? Tyler puts so much effort into building an entire experience beyond just dropping an album.

When has Drake ever put as much effort into his visuals as Tyler has with A Boy Is A Gun, we can even go back to his earlier videos like F*cking Young and IFHY.

Drake has always played it safe with music videos.

When has Drake ever made an effort to create a cohesive aesthetic like Kanye has pretty much his entire career on top of that?

Provider and Toosie Slide being put side to side is not making any sense

Where is the correlation? They have nothing in common. Toosie Slide was a blatant Tik Tok bait/challenge single. Its catchy but got played out and irritating FAST.

Provider is a chill vibey song that's relaxing and made for a long drive. Can't even compare the lyrics or sounds at all. Bro, what?

  • Toosie Slide is overhated fr. Effortless bop from Drake I fear.

Released during the start of the pandemic, the song brought joy to many of us during a dull time. Once again, Drake had come with another hit. We heard the leaks and knew it would be huge. We were eager for the release. It released, and the world went crazy for it. Instant chart topper, instant tik tok hit. The video to accompany the song, in his glorious Toronto mansion, was insane. The Nike mask, the black goves, the Mao Zedong painting, iconic. The soft autotune on his voice to make him sound like he's underwater, incredible. I haven't even talked about the hook yet. People clown on it for being one of the weaker points, but it actually just goes to show how incredibly playful Drake can be, all while bodying rappers in both rap music and rnb music. The verses on this song are arguably the strongest parts.

Why are you putting limitations on what I wanna hear about? Weird. If Drake were to touch on Politics, I'd be curious to see how he tackles it considering hes not even American but is affected anyway because of how much time he spends in the US

Nowhere did I say or imply that. I asked why you randomly said "except Politics". Whats the point of asking if you're gonna exclude potential answers, tf 🤔

I didn't even answer, I simply built off of you bringing up Politics 🤦🏾‍♀️
