One thing is for sure tho. Drake got mad RnB clones because he fully shifted RnB from the generic love and heartbreak stuff to personal storytelling (Usher started it tho mid 2000s).
So Bryson, HER, Brent, Summer etc pull from Drake.

I agree Drake influence on rap is uderstated without him the melody shift wouldnt have happened.

Drake should stop trying to replicate the dumb ass music much of the Yachty / Opium wave is making, it’s the reason FATD wasn’t good and kind of flopped. Drake needs to go back to making these big pop rap songs or just straight up pop music (even w international influences) and fill the rest of his album with classic Drake production deep cuts. Hope him touring Europe / rest of the world is gonna inspire him again.

they did this same thing with Carti when WLR came out around DONDA and CLB
there was a whole ass thread saying WLR “felt bigger” in spite of CLB pushing like 600k first week, and Kanye literally having the entire world in the palm of his hand with sold out stadiums during DONDA
