its a nothing burger apart from he's been trying his hardest to give the impression he doesn't use writers, faking himself coming up with 'Doghouse' and 'Stuck' in his livestream when Beam wrote it, and then faking that jerk beat freestyle, Drake REALLY cares about how he's percieved and he's annoyed people think he uses writers

It sucks because he both uses writers and writes himself

It would be nice if he were transparent about it, because it would teach a lot of people about the songwriting process, and show another side of his brilliance which is his ability to discern what's good what isn't etc

he credited him as producer because Elkan produced too, drake HATES crediting writers, Yachty always got production credits for Her Loss/FATD era when Yachty can't produce

he's not a producer in that he's playing the instruments or whatever but he's part of putting the track together, bringing the beats to drake, etc

  • Drake is like the head of a factory, he has many camps he likes to work with and get sounds from, London Cyr is currently one, Gordo is currently one, Octavian AKA O Lil Angel is currently one, B4U is currently one, old OVO like Boi1da and Vinylz and Noel, new OVO like Nyan and Harley, he used people like Brinx parker this album too, but check his credits, he's always leaning on someone, More Life it was Starrah and UK producers, Her Loss it was BEAM, Yachty and Dougie F, he uses writers then moves on, that's how he stays fresh

is Drake just the 2026 Birdman?

And also writing the song for Drake so all he needs to do is relay the vocal... but yeah executive producer sounds good

  • Drake's greatest skill is hearing potential in ideas and workshopping them against other ideas more so than creating the idea from scratch at this point tbh

I wish he was more open about that

Also, working with young, not established producers and writers so you can f*** them over on publishing and instead just give them 20 bands is nasty work

and I'm a drake stan but it's a practice that all these niggas do and it really needs to stop

Tried to tell you gang lmaooo

Man this s*** is word for f***ing word. One of my fav Drake songs in a minute too. It’s disappointing. I normally wouldn’t care about the melodies but this is just egregious at this point. Like when is the last time a bonafide Drake hit has came 100% from drakes pen? I mean it might even be pop stars that write more of their hits than this nigga wtf

is Drake just the 2026 Birdman?

Ye works like this too, that's where Drake learnt it from, difference is Drake is much more organised and will double down on what works/in trend. Ye is more random and will just fire people and rebuild his team due to falling out with people or him changing his mind on direction

  • Bro this is shameless

There's been so many times Drake has just copied a formula that previously worked , one example is Travis x Thug 'Pick up the phone' (prod by Vinylz and Frank Dukes, written by Starrah), then Drake made 'Fake Love' - coincidentally also (prod by Vinylz and Frank Dukes, written by Starrah), this is why he kept going back to Tay Keith 2nd half beat switches too, Drake likes to double down on what works

If this is real it gotta be the producers fault for not telling Drake that this is Avi’s song.

Like Drake would care if he used someone else’s hook

It depends on what you define as hit

IMO he's a workhorse. He just put out 3 albums at one time lol anyone who thinks any artists can pen 3 albums worth of work solo is just...idk lol

He puts out way too much music to think his music is made by himself. Hits, timestamps, whatever tbh I genuinely don't think it's a big deal though

Drake lost his touch on the pulse though this is why he relied so much on Yachty and currently O Lil Angel and B4U, he needs younger people to show him what's current so he can keep up

Thing that most people don't realize is that when he's working with a yatchy or any of these niggas, these beats be having actual vocals on them

That's how he heard 10 bands in the first place.

    Standard practice tbh

    Janice was somebody else
    Nokia was somebody else

And then you have to think really hard for the preceding hit. I don’t even know what it is respectfully

I mean but both Janice and Nokia drake's pen is on. He wrote those verses.

I think it matters that some of these are true collaborations

ye works a bit differently, he hosts writing camps & has people record a ton of verses on the same beat then chooses his favorite to record himself

with Drake & Birdman, there’s not a bunch of people recording reference verses, it’s always the same few people, who rotate out after a few years

with Birdman, he had Wayne in the 2000s, then Mack Maine when Wayne went to Rikers, then Thug, then Jacquees, then YoungBoy. stopped keeping track after that, but i think Neno Calvin & Reese da Youngn fit in there somewhere too.

with Drake, he had DetaiL in 2013, then QM in 2014-2015, then he tried to write for himself after the Meek stuff, then Starrah for a few songs, PND here and there for a while, Yachty for Her Loss & FatD, and i guess just whoever already had a demo on the beat when the producer sent it nowadays

video of kia shine explaining it all

  • I guess this is why 40 isn’t around as much, which explains why these last few Drake albums sound completely different and not as genuine. I’m not the biggest fan of Views but that was the last real Drake ALBUM if you get what I mean.

Honestly Nevermind was a nice detour but everything else has just been more vibes than art and lack the vision that got Drake where he is.

True, but the main ear candy on these songs is not from him. The parts that ppl gravitate to the most have not seemed to come solely from Drake since maybe scorpion? Even that statement is not a guarantee cause who knows maybe someone else wrote those too.

Idk it’s just disappointing. The only saving grace for me was the timestamp style raps but even that is seemingly being collaborated on. It’s like finding out one of your favorite athletes was doing steroids throughout his entire prime. So wtf was really you? It’s a let down. Then he goes on rap radar and tells us all his singles that did real damage for him he “wrote every single lyric”…..smh
