As a huge Drake fan I always appreciate threads like this
Keeps me humble
Congrats to Kendrick
Discord angels, we got work to do
Return of the goat
Only 2 songs to hit the top 10 are the drake solo joints.
I wonder how party feels about this.
Drake got a ego when it comes to these collab albums
Man has like 5 solo songs on Her Loss and $$$ each while 21 and PND each only had 1 solo
Not even Ye was forcing solo songs onto his collabs
woulda ruined that beat with his autotune lol
i would have preferred it to what we got
You could argue that Kendrick has subtly continued running with the beef but Drake hasn’t done any favors for himself with the bitter comments and the lawsuits.
The more frustrated energy he puts out there and the insistence that he’s “not dead” (even though most aren’t saying he is), the more people seem to be gravitating towards supporting Kendrick and his actual nonchalant energy. Drake claims he’s nonchalant, but his words and actions contradict that.
Kendrick is 1000% playing into keeping Not Like Us popular lmao. The Grammys with the Canadian Tux and how the whole Super Bowl performance was set up, but like you said Drake keeps making moves that keep it alive
I truly think if Drake just moved on and made hits and pretended it never happened more people would be tired of it, but he's still referencing the beef with every public appearance, he's taking jabs in his lyrics, he's still targeting the women. So people aren't tired of clowning him yet
And I know it kills Drake Stan’s to admit it without seething about “bots” and “fake numbers”. But GNX has been probably the most successful rap album in awhile. Luther, Squabble Up, TV Off and even Peakaboo on Tik Tok have all been successful in their own right.

Yall niggas do not have fun man what
Nokia 2nd half slander ITT is crazy that's when the s*** gets bumping RT @Elemental
Ya bugging, the beat switch is fire and the 2nd half is catchiest part of the song

He gave people exactly what they were asking for after NLU. Which is rare for Kendrick but it was a great move

Oh yeah Kendrick still leaning into it, but in a more subtle way. He’s the calculated dude people claimed Drake was for years because he outsmarted an idiot like Meek Mill.

even the way the beat switch comes in is crazy

i.e. should have handled it like Pusha T but has decided not to and instead released an album that will affect his next solo release
still great and super influential but I feel like something was definitely lost when he started using a drum machine in the 70s
and the contagious optimism of his 60's stuff had turned into the most harrowing pessimism (understandably but still makes TARGO a tough listen)
'69 was by far his best year for me
Ok, 'Fresh' still uses a plethora of drum machines, but what about its subject matter? It's certainly not as tough of a listen as TARGO.
