My middle frequencies are on the deaf side of things. I can hear pretty fine still but a bit deaf yeah. My production/engineer homie stopped making music and he was amazing but he was 50% deaf at like 23 years old.

    What?

  • Apr 21, 2024

A lot of artists actually suffer from some form of that tinnitus.

Also a lot of artists and musicians wear state of the art in ears and earplugs while on stage to protect their hearing + hear themselves on the stage

I was thinking the same. I heard Pharrell plays his music hecka loud

As for live shows, modern artists have in ear monitors that feed them specific channels at a lower volume, and block out other noise, while before they were invented, there was careful design of venue’s acoustics and speaker placement so the stage itself wouldn’t hear too much, with smaller speakers facing toward the stage playing what the artist needs to hear for their performance at a low volume

That’s sad af. We really need to push the idea that mixes should sound good soft, and producers should minimize the amount of time they are blasting s*** into their ears, to the new generation.

Hearing damage happens over time. Wont know until they old

  • Apr 21, 2024

Thinking most artists are more aware of the issue than the average people so they actually have taken precautions way before the rest of us do. Their ears def f***ed though just that deafness being the worst scenario is something that they manage to navigate around

A lot of artists with 10+ years of experience have some amount of hearing loss

maybe not full deafness but enough that you can’t hear everything that people tell you

People like Dave Grohl are open about their struggle with partial hearing loss
