Syd just wanted to live out of the spotlight for the rest of his life and who can blame him?? He was manipulated by his own band, first they kicked him out even though he was the founder and then purposefully made him sound crazy on his debut album that they produced bc they were aware of his talent and saw him as a threat!! This is a well known story and you can see it in his documentary film. Also it was still a classic album that KILLS most of their discog.

I'll have to look into what you've said here. if that's true that's very sad..

Earl was like 15 in that s/t tape, his voice just changed bc of puberty wtf.

On Doris he really sounded monotonous on some tracks and put an emphasis on tongue twisters, bc he was on his MF DOOM fanboy s*** (said he might go back on that tip in the future btw).

But on IDLSIDGO he took care of that and improved in every way possible, it was far more focused and mature than his previous s***. Doris had 3-4 songs that were very strong in terms of songwriting but IDLS was just on point from top to bottom.

From SRS and on he's been on that stream of consciousness s***, bc that's the type of hip hop that he enjoys atm and it gives him more room to really shine as a writer. Like if you read the lyrics to the album it's like a beautiful and meaningful poetry book (this also applies to Solace).

This FOC album was a flex that he can be completely independent and take risks, he said that in an interview and also has lyrics on the album that address it. And it still has a coherent theme and his use of words is more intelligent and concise than those other rappers. To call him a crackhead is crazy and ignorant. Shows that they don't pay attention to music beyond the surface.

Y'all can clown his sales all day but in 20-30 they gon remember one of the most gifted writers of our generation who pushed boundaries within the genre and resonated with listeners emotionally.

In the grand scheme of things this is true.

I love Earl but I don't care if somebody doesn't listen to him. However the last thing I wanna see is ppl citing f***ing DJ Khaled. His fat ass called somebody who outsold him the mysterious one and his whole album was forgotten in less than a week. Like???

Tyler only outsold him because of bundles abuse and ihis album had more lasting power than IGOR

IGOR sold around 100k without these bundles and FOA sold around 120k w/o them

IGOR sales also fell like crazy over the following weeks which wasnt the case of FOA, that Khaled album was clearly more successful

Khaled just compiles mainstream artists' leftovers and throws them together with a meme gimmick every year

Like damn you could put 80% of KTT in his position and they'd be able to do what he does. Some even better.

From someone like Khaled, to disrespect a hard working, actual MUSICIAN with a huge cult following is foolish and ignorant. I can tell he envied Tyler that day. Pathetic.

Tell DJ Khaled to email me and let me help him with 1 album, I promise it'll be his greatest album ever. He is an industry person with connects, good at business, but we are talking about the music side of things where the man struggles most of the time.

Good for him @ the come up, but ain't nobody listen to his albums on the regular like that. He's fast food music.

Imagine DJ Khaled - Brothers (feat. Kanye West & JAY Z)

Song is already a 10/10, just give it to Khaled since it didn't get released officially and get Hov on that s*** to make it a 20/10. Already a more impactful cultural moment than anything he's done in YEARS

He really needs my help, goddamn.

  • You expected him to do 50k or something? This isn’t surprising.

IGOR is a diet Pharrell album but I guarantee it’ll be more celebrated in 10 years than Khaleds album

    Yep

See how Marvel and DC have been trying to step it up artistically and make projects that'll be memorable in the long run. Fast food entertainment is just not the wave and people get that.
