I would hardly call most of their music rap. A lot of that is some alternative s***

now this is a conversation that actually has merit, because a lot of the time niggas don't even be rapping.

a lot of the time the label of rapper is based in one's brand moreso than their content. what a contemporary travis scott does and what an ariana grande do aren't that different

Those people don’t understand hip hop then. Because trap definition will never leave. If you keep letting niggas think these new niggas are doing trap albums just because they using trap drums and sounds then we gon be down the road 30 years later saying Travis Scott was the most impactful trap artist

He basically is in 15 years either ways. It's one of those common misconceptions that is a losing battle

I doubt they will say most impactful trap artist. They will say rap artist only probably. But then again that depends on the journalist and how much he cares about the history and craft

i agree with the excessive labels but why is it wrong to differentiate between sounds, espesically in such a diverse genre

that’s like calling everything with a guitar and drums “rock”

White people and critics will forever label things. White people even did it against themselves wen post punk became a thing. Started calling it New Wave/ No wave

to be fair, post punk, new wave and no wave are 3 distinct genres:donshrug:

Yep. Someone could rap early in their career then they are forever labeled a rapper.

so he's not wrong in using that word esp not as a producer himself

as in he's especially not wrong considering that he himself is a producer

technically if you use an arpeggiator in a DAW on a hat sample you get a hi hat roll, so he's not wrong in using that word esp not as a producer himself
