Is that why Abel said his sound is Drakes Toronto sound with a twist?
Is that why Partynextdoor picked his name because the sound reminded him of 40?
Is that why we have artists like Brent & Bryson?
I feel like that's more a Drake sound than a regional Toronto sound tho.
When you listen to Not Like Us you think that's a west coast song, when you listen to a Project Pat song you think that's a southern song, when you listen to Illmatic you think that's a East coast sound, I don't see anybody listen to Bryson Tiller and say damn that's some Toronto s***, they might say there's a lot of Drake influence in his music but that's a personal sound not a regional one.
Most of iyrtitl, views and more life is that Toronto sound.
Toronto sound is more similar to London to me tho
Both are very international cities so that could explain it
this convo always never works because 99% of people dont even realize how many Caribbeans are in toronto
like their biggest rapper before drake was kardinal offishall bro
also this ain’t really true at all tbh. as i said in another thread 40 and drake literally invented the 2010’s toronto sound. although he seems to coming more from a “heritage” sound type thing which i suppose is understandable idk if toronto has anything like g funk for example. when i think toronto i think of them or niggas like safe etc
It’s time to get these old men media members out of hip hop talks
Old men rappers don’t speak this f***in much
Apple gotta show us who Ebros market is cause I can’t f***in think of any percentage of people who would wanna hear this geezer gossip
I feel like most mainstream rappers evolve past their "regional sound".
Like wayne not making nola music like that besides a song or two every project.
Most Kendrick songs not LA/regional either.
People having to cherry pick songs and albums from his catalog is proving the point
Drake turns the “Toronto sound” on and off. Switches up to accents and sounds from other regions a lot
Kendrick never suddenly sounds like he should be on the Top Boy show and the next minute wiping his nose with his slimes in Atlanta
Most mainstream rappers have different sounds thats part of what makes them freat especially modern era.
Mask Off, Hillbillies, Loyalty, DNA, Big Shot. All The Stars, Mona Lisa, Silent Hill, Like That are all very different sounds.

Kendrick's accent sounds like someone from Compton on all those songs
100% agree,
How are you the most dominate artist in your country for so long and don’t have a single sound associated with you or you helped foster from others?
A coloniser, manipulator fake and fraud
Scam artist
I'm confused as to what the "Toronto sound" is. Because everything listed ITT just feels like cauldron of other places sounds
But Kendrick just invented g-funk tho, right?
Nigga do you want smoke from me?

You right
WhyG cant rap for s*** but it still f***ing goes

Toronto doesn't have a sound it's just people copying bits and pieces from other cities or rapping with that high pitched accent

Give it time
Toronto definitely has a sound, the 2015-2017 sound was everywhere
If you don't think you certainly did listen enough lol
White Iverson and Antidote are straight Toronto sound
KMT isn’t grime at all i think you’re confused
key word: inspired
we are all capable of reading comprehension here lets not pretend please
Nigga tell us why he was repping Houston more than Toronto until 2014 then also his Toronto sound is stolen from og niggaz like mo g smoke dawg, and niggaz from regent park. Bro a code switcher. He literally an actor
where did i say those artists didnt lay the foundation for the Toronto sound?
its obvious they did, "No Long Talk" literally sounds like a Smoke Dawg song lol
i didn't say he invented it, i just said its his regional sound
He literally created the Toronto RnB sound, the lofi europop sampling is Drake and 40
