Tik Tok music streaming is in testing phase. They are paying more than any other streaming service per stream apparently. I know for a fact that the industry is paying close attention to how that pans out. Will be interesting to see how they can incorporate snippets intro real streaming numbers too

Even here in NY radio while it's still mainly rap being played you're also hearing a lot more Bad Bunny and Burna Boy songs at several times a day compared to a few years ago.
Dancehall/Reggae/afrobeats has always been intertwined with hip hop. (Sean paul, beanie man, elephant man)

Latin artists have cross over appeal in USA thanks to population shifts and closeness of the region. I don’t think African artists will experience much cross over appeal as is being led to believe and pushed, afrobeats is just having a really good moment right now

Other than Morgan, none of those acts are “new”
Where are the new acts from these genres that debuted in say, 2020ish that are doing arenas and selling >200k 1st week
Olivia Rodrigo debuted in 2021 and was a superstar out the gate.
But that’s kinda unfair to limit the upcoming pool of acts to 2020s when we’re only 3 years into the decade and we had a global pandemic for 2 of those years which basically shut down the music industry during that time.

While that's 100% fair,
I just don't see it. I don't feel it. I don't see or feel the next superstar from rap coming any time soon where as in other genres you can see a Peso Pluma coming behind Benito, you can see and feel what Afrobeats is doing at large right now.
A lot of this is premature though, agreed.
