This is another HOT TAKE that I have: Part of the reason why it seems like women are taking over is because none of the "big names" are experimenting compared to their male contemporaries.

They're mostly making outside/booty shaking music, using conventional rap flows and rapping over conventional rap beats (not that I consider that to be bad thing).

There isn't really a lot of BIG weirdo/alternative rappers in the female space. Outside of Doja Cat of course, if she even counts.

No one cared about Tierra Whack enough. Azealia Banks is a hot mess. Rico Nasty just put out a tweet saying she'll be working at Burger King in five years.

TiaCorine has one TikTok hit. Princess Nokia was selling feet pics on onlyfans before she got her Tik Tok hit.

Tierra Whack doesn't care about Tierra Whack enough.

We've been WANTING an actual album from her for literal years I legit think she just doesn't want to do it.

Which is f***ing heartbreaking when this the same person making joints like this

They’ll burn out quicker than their male counterparts. At least in male rap, their is a little bit of diversity sonically and image wise.

But mainstream female rap is just a copy-paste of the same template 100 times over.

Combine that with streaming making music so accessible and disposable, rollouts are shorter now and new music is being listened to the moment it releases and then immediately trashed and called mid, there's no longevity anymore for artists

Music is being consumed so much faster than even the early 2010s when it was still the CD era, even with piracy and blog sites around back then

For "rap artist" niggas say "mid" in Hip Hop stuff but in other genres they're experiencing a growth because the cultures of said genres are frankly more conducive to success.

"talking about the same s*** over and over"

what do they think pop artists are doing

Pop artist have more diversity then alot of rappers do nowadays not to mention they're far better live performers and better personalities.

Hip Hops issue is having lack of diversity in topics + bad performers + bad people as the artist it's too much.

No they won’t. Ebro and them weren’t playing ANY of beast coast/A$AP Mob when they were buzzing. Radio is definitely the issue too

Playboi Carti doesn’t make the same music/have the same image like Lil Baby does

And Lil Baby doesn’t make the same music/have the same image like JID does.

I can’t say the say the same thing for mainstream female rap except for Nicki maybe.

Can we admit Drake's awful influence on the genre now

How are blaming Drake for this? He's one of the last rappers still dropping fleshed out projects, doing freestyles, and seems to genuinely enjoy the craft more than the money.

If what Ebro said was true

Then one of the reasons is that the stars from mid to late 2010s are all dead (XXXTENTACION, JuiceWRLD, Pop Smoke, Lil Peep)

They were supposed to be the new class of young artists like Drake, Kendrick, and Cole

Yall gotta stop saying this s*** too cause this is Hip Hop niggas die more often then not and the genre has never experienced this before.

We lost Pac and Biggie then still saw a run of huge artist wit DMX to Jay to Em to 50 and onward.
