“All right, let me vent for a minute. See, the problem I got with the game is: There are no gatekeepers in hip hop. Who's letting these wack * in? I mean, can someone please put a combination lock on the door? And stop giving out the code? Goddamn! Hey, Millz, show 'em how it's done!”
Theres 5 rap songs in the top 15 on billboard
A rap album is currently number 1
These b**** ass labels and washed up media outlets/personalities/ washed up old ass rappers need to stfu and stop trying to push that narrative
No one who isn't a rap fan can name you a JID song or pick him out a lineup he's a niche artist with a strong fanbase that has zero crossover
what about the one he did with imagine dragons
If I was a label I’d prioritize country and right wing grift music
Death of Hip-Hop narrative is being so forced rn
Knew that when billboard b**** ass made an article lmao

yeah so forced that people were saying it before the article came out

every single “gatekeeper” is a soulless capitalist who’s here for the money before the culture. Snoop and Hov for example are neutering the game and stratifying the culture to make bucks off it. Turning Death Row into a crypto only thing and having lavish bourgeois lunches where only the moguls of hiphop are invited is entirely antithetical to the idea of hiphop
hiphop doesn’t need gatekeepers, but rather curators and caretakers. the most basic essence of hiphop is it’s ability to accept anyone or anything into its fold. Killing that isn’t the answer. the answer is in maintaining and protecting a healthy culture
afrobeats are already boring and i'm so mf sick of the calm down remix
Afrobeat production is way to “chill” for me like it’s music meant to be listened to in some hookah lounge
I like smooth music but not like that

Burna speeding his s*** up
what about the one he did with imagine dragons
JID having a song with them is hilarious
I knew rap was dead when y’all kept trying to force Lil Babby, Gunna, Yachty, and Carti on us.
this post don’t even deserve to be bottom paged
niggas were fr on here unironically throwing Carti into all time lists
2011 (generously) - 2023 being the better part of twenty years is a crazy reach nigga lol
him being the most successful also don’t mean he was “carrying rap”
regardless of how one feels about his personal music he brought in a lot of s*** that probably is a net negative to what rap music was before him lol
Who has done more for rap music than him since the start of the 2010s decade? He's the leader of the last of a dying breed of superstar rappers but somehow he's a net negative?
