I'll never understand people who keep saying miquella is evil, like it has no basis aside from preconceived notions. Hes morally grey at worst, but still far from being a negative character. I swear people convinced themselves through memes and supposed berserk "parallels" that hes another evil twink. Its sad because It undermines the writing behind his character a lot, but thats nothing new with the average fandom online unfortunately. Same goes for people who now because of her backstory excuse Marika of all the foul atrocities she's done multiple times since she became a goddess.
Bruh. I had completely missed The Shaded Castle on my first playthrough of the (base) game. I just came across it. It wasn't that exciting of a place but I had always wondered where/how to get the Briar set and Marais Executioner's Sword but never looked it up.
I just killed one of the beast soldiers and their dog n i was fighting both at the same time, normal right?
But i ended up killing the fire dog first and i guess dude glitched out or sumn but it looked like he was literally devastated that i literally killed his dog, was in shock, and literally gave up fighting 💀 💀
I felt so bad, he literally just stood there arms to the side like F*** IT KILL ME and didnt care anymore since his dog died right in front of him - didnt move or anything just default after the dog got slained

Agreed, i havent looked into it because i dont look up anything even community stuff till after i beat the game but from what i gathered he is doing the "right" thing with the info he has accessed, its his zealot warriors like that bwomen that go overboard and dont even understand the idea they just want to follow
Im not following him tho cuz im on the side of the outer space people and beast men
Also the Erdtree is " "evil" " in my eyes and an invader of sorts 🧐
🚨 🚨 MINOR SPOILERS OF JUST DEEPER LORE STUFF THAT ISNT OUTRIGHT - BASE GAME:
The Crucible, Dragons, Giants and Beastmen are naturally of here and the first real origin factions of what we know - while the Ghostflames and Ancestral Followers are also seemingly natural but ancient even for their era and theyre moreso part of the natural state of world & nature itself than like a civilization or faction.
The Dark Root which iirc is a reaction to both the Erdtree and also the Crucible thats been building in the background for eons waiting and wants to have its era be the next after the Erdtree. And they probably have the best chance to do tonbe the overall reigning faction like the Fingers faith.
Then theres 3 space factions of the Alabaster gravity rock people, the Fingers & Rannis moon human-like silver n blue people that got shoved underground.
And then on the sidelines are the Blood people, Albunarics, Blackflame, Saint Trina and Snake people which their timelines is the most unknown & theyre the smallest groups. And theyre background info is also obscure.
We do know tho, that the Blackflames Godslayers lost a war with against Maliketh and the Fingers leaving only a few alive. While the Albunarics got punished by the Fingers tho and that most of the true Albunarics got hunted with only two that were brought in to work under the Fingers & the other few left are out there trying to survive and hide while the rest of their bloodline got tainted as another punishement. The Albunarics might be an origin faction alongside the Dragons, Crucible, Beastmen, & Giants.

Im personally in agreement and am with the Beastmen, Dragons & Rannis underground space people.
Im neutral to the Alabasters, Giants, Blackflame Godslayers, Saint Trina and Ghostflames.
I like the Ancestrals, Albunarics and Crucible.
The Snake and Blood people im hesitant on - theyre " "bad" " but i sympathize with their origin and the why, just not the operation itself.
And its full death to the Dark Root & Fingers f*** 'em 🖕
Its so funny and cool how the forge golems pet the fire slimes and treat them like pets

you forgot about the fire giants faction
you forgot about the fire giants faction
Thats the " "giants" "
From what i understand the reg giants in the base game are a lesser descendant form left over from the last of them and their god dying in the beast vs giants war with Hoarax, the fire giants are the " "real" " full powered hayday ones and the boss is one of the very few last ones alive of the true form
And iirc it was the final war of the old days before the erdtree fully took route (which the dragons and crucibles were the era prior to beastmen and giants war, and Hoarah had the remnants of the left over Crucible army) which they basically tricked Hoarah into destroying both the beasts and giants in a suicide war so the fingers dont have to worry about competition - then they banished him to tie up loose ends of the old world "threat" to them and to fully put a cap on the og crucible spirit
i almost f***ed up. it’s a whole part of the dlc map i skipped i was about to set stuff off miyazaki was over there cooking boy
i played this game for 70 hours and i only got 16% thru it i dont think im ever gonna beat it. i kinda gave up because of how daunting it was

i have no idea how to progress side quests, so i wasted a lot of time on that. i never even got stuck that bad difficulty wise, its just so big and no matter how much i explore i just end up spendin 10 hours on nothing
its literally unplayable without guidance or a wiki, and i refuse to engage with the latter. the most progress i ever made was when a friend was over and way telling me stuff to do with the ranni quest cause i had no idea how to figure that out
i really like it a ton, but its just too f***ing big pause
you forgot about the fire giants faction
There was other factions in was missing but i fixed it
Albunarics, St. Trina & Blackflame Godslayers.

I played without a guide since launch day, actually the day before launch thanks to an early amazon delivery. I was the first one to find some stuff and it was used for wikis/guides.
If youre familar with souls games its the same design.
The quests arent a self contained thing its spread out throughout the game, where you can interact and do things to advance and the person will move on to another locale deeper in the game. Its not a quest log or a static interaction/event - youre following or meeting up with them while on your own journey and theyre on their own seperateone as well, thats the idea. Its sprawled and most quests you will find the person(s) of note in the main areas as long as youre exploring. Theres only a very few that are really obscure. Exact same as any other Souls game.
Where to go canonically is shown on your map, where the big yellow arrow points to from a grace point is literally a waypoint of the direction for the next major main grace point that is at an event/important place.
Im currently going thru the DLC as well without a guide, i also ignored all community content and only watched the initial trailer. Pretty much as blind as you can get with my experience. Its a lot simpler than youre thinking.
And its not at all like a standard modern rpg game in almost every aspect.
And if you have online on, notes from other players are actually a big help besides the obvious troll and joke ones. Especially for the puzzle riddle towers, which the puzzle riddle towers are specifically built with the idea of the community working together.

I just edited it more clearer but i hope it helps.
And i didnt spoil anything or twll you where to go, just explaining the design of the game and the signs for signposting that the game naturally provides to help guide you in the world.

Might fault for double posting @ thread
But i meant to add you in this @dkpopman to let you know i didnt reveal anything - because i know how sensitive it to not want to be spoiled or told where/how
Im the same way - in most games
i almost f***ed up. it’s a whole part of the dlc map i skipped i was about to set stuff off miyazaki was over there cooking boy
i’m getting cooked but this npc is hilarious
Yeah the Ancient Meteroic Ore Greatsword is goated, it just won me a fight with teo loteral berserk bears at the SAME TIME
And we won the Red Bears Claw weapon off a dungeon boss 1st try

Idk man I progressed just by exploring and going in the direction of the grace’s
After that I looked up guides for side quests like ranni cause it seemed cool
Listen man just do the guides if you need to
Its worth it
Man, I didn't know the name of the armour set I've been wanting and now that I know the name (Raging Wolf set) it seems I'm past the point where you can get it so I'll have to get it on NG++

70 hours in, 16%. It's time to drop the gamer pride and just use a guide
