Things like satellites, the microwave, microchips all have their creation founded in our quest to reach space

He's now landing rockets reducing the cost of space travel exponentially

Imagine if we had to throw away the plane after every flight, it would be prohibitively expensive

Spacex is the first private company to achieve these space travel milestones

    Idiotic idea

In what way does space travel benefit society?

I thought someone might have prob with that but either way the point was more the ppl at SpaceX believe they're doing important s***. Working on space travel the stuff of childhood dreams. Twitter purpose is to rack up screen time and sell ads and our data. No wonder a lot of ppl ain't wanna agree to Elon culture for that.

It's pretty pathetic to try and minimize what SpaceX is doing

They had "government funds" because they are THE ONLY PRIVATE COMPANY CAPABLE OF DOING THESE MISSIONS

They had "government funds" because the government WAS THE ONLY CUSTOMER THAT NEEDED THEIR SERVICES

Like it or not, SpaceX is it

Acting like they are some government welfare queen is pathetic

Go look up and complain about Boeing, Lockheed, or Northrop

  • Nov 19, 2022

Not to mention SpaceX is now scaling Starlink

    And they also have this

SpaceX has already made money launching three (3) of these smallsat rideshare missions and is currently taking on more bookings for the opportunity to fly to space through its Rideshare Program – with flights spaced out approximately every 4 months.

The base rate is $1.1 million for a spacecraft holding a max capacity of 200 kg (440.9 lbs) with additional mass priced at $5,500 per kg (2.2 lbs) thereafter.

I havent minimized anything I am just disagreeing with your weirdo take how they are this noble cause for our "conquest to space" and cheap cost of space travel cause thats complete bullshit.

Its about the potential profit and militaristic/ spionage opportunities stakeholders see in it. The amount of launches spaceX offers is their biggest strength and where no competitor currently can keep up.

If you don't think there's a potential to push humanity forward with space travel then yes, we are not on the same wavelength

If you zoom out it's hard to argue humans going to the moon was one of the greatest achievements of our species

Much like 1,000 years ago it was impossible to cross the Atlantic Ocean

But whatever, people love being negative on here and the general internet zeitgeist

Hard not to hate on Elon since he's corny as f***, just wish people would wake up regarding the actual progress regarding technology without freaking out and missing the bigger picture

Dismissing technological progress because it gets militarised is a pretty bleak and honestly unrealistic/defeatist take, given that technology always seems to get monetized for consumers and productivity gains within companies
