Em was only 30 when TES came out. Its a "grown man" album if you compare it to his previous s***. If the term "grown man rap" is used to describe barely out of their 20s conscious rap albums, then literally hundreds of rap albums are "grown man" rap.

"Grown man" rap is used to describe a veteran rapper past their prime or older (40s and above) making reflective music on their career or life. TES still had tracks that symbolized Em's less than stellar aspects like Cleanin' Out My Closet.

TES and, at least thematically, Recovery are Em's most mature projects that don't rely on shock value or controversy.

I'd argue Em was more creative in his prime. I can give him that

MCHG is underrated, it's not amazing or anything but it's cool.

Revival is much worse than any jay album tho and jay has more great albums.
