Al Green, Rick James and P-Funk getting overshadowed by Durag Jesus iTT
S*** disgusting
No PND is jarring, changed RNB production and writing this generation for sure no matter how you feel about bro music. Niggas in 2021 still chasing his sound from P1-P3.
To this day nobody has been able to match the feeling/vibe bro had on that trilogy even though many have tried. Then when you think about the fact he wrote and produced the first one as a teenager it’s even more insane.
Party doesn’t even have the Trilogy that put the mysterious airy 2010s R&B on the map
No Musiq Soulchild, Jill Scott, or Barry White? Tony! Toni! Tone! is nowhere to be found? Where is Chaka Khan? Minnie Ripperton and George Benson are also nowhere to be found...Yeah b you need to get back in the lab and do this over forreal.

Jill is on there
Tony is as well
replace kaleidoscope with wildheart
I like Wildheart more and I do think that it is the better album between the two, but nah Kaleidoscope Dream should be there. That is the album that many people will quickly call a classic album. Wildheart was considered "divisive" for the first year or two it was out for some stupid ass reason.
It's lowkey the same thing between Embrya and Urban Hang Suite. I like Embrya much more and I do think that is alot better, but it is the more iconic album.
Fortunately these days I think most people recognize how amazing both Wildheart and Embrya are, Urban Hang Suite and Kaleidoscope Dream just have that "They were here and loved first" thing going on.

Years later niggas are still trying to make what he was making.
Weeknds trilogy is relegated to urban outfitters and pac sun music
Jill is on there
Tony is as well
Aight bet Jill Scott was there I was actually confusing that album cover with another Mary J Blige album cover lol
But nah b you have Toni Braxton on there not Tony! Toni! Tone! I'd recommend checking out The Revival by them.
Even though I think PartyNextDoor is trash he should be in this list as essential. He does serve as a pretty "big" part of 2010s R&B. I think he's pretty ass compared to his contemporaries and those who were in his same lane as R&B, but his sound did influence a lot of clones, and he was also important in molding Drake's R&B sound...since he likely ghostwrote most of those tracks.
I’m liking the list @op but it feels like some are missing. did you only want to put one album per artist? A few other worthy contenders would have been:
Brown Sugar by D’Angelo
Embrya by Maxwell
Never Say Never by Brandy
Afrodisiac by Brandy
Dangerously in Love by Beyoncé,
Diary of a Mad Band by Jodeci
What’s the 411? by Mary J. Blige
Share My World by Mary J. Blige
One in a Million by Aaliyah
100% Ginuwine
All That I Am - Joe

and in terms of Toni Braxton albums, Secrets >>> self-titled
Oh yeah Ne-Yo and The Dream should also be somewhere on that list. I think a strong case can be made for Anthony Hamilton and Lyfe Jennings as well.

I prefer “Sons of Soul” but this also would have been valid
