how the f*** can you claim you know this era and believe they rapped like this 'for the hell of it'
they rapped like this because they had to make sure hov gets them on their songs
Beethoven said he learned nothing from his teacher
who was the Beatles googling as a teenage garage band? they wasn’t, it was all self taught by ear
I watched my homie learn piano off just his ear in a year
we gotta stop blaming the artist and blame the consumer
Respect the dead (idk how he felt bout niggas) but Beethoven lying his ass off lmao. I know cause I used to say the same s*** after 4 years of hating my classical piano teaching classes. But if you also has irregular late night sessions where you was getting dragged out of bed to the piano, I too would hate that s*** lol. Man had multiple different teachers that played different instruments since he was a child (y’know since he was a prodigy)
To have a basic enough knowledge of music theory to pen down the Moonlight Sonata means his teachers taught him something.
The Beatles studying the sauce of niggas loke Little Richard (LIKE ALL THEM CRACKERS DID) proves that WE was their teachers. Also the quality did show, Quincy said it man Ringo was trash
But also op the elders talk down on the youngins
I honestly see nothing wrong with guys who can’t rap but end up doing some other s*** that pops. Carti is a really good example. He knows what he is doing while not doing a mf thing.
!https://youtu.be/u1u07VAcBAwWe thought KRS-One was wrong for that tho.
And hell, everyone was on Soulja side during that skirmish wit Ice-T. The way that came about Ice-T himself would say was a f***ed up situation and it was never meant to be taken as a direct s*** at Soulja lol.

I agree with your point but it’s always been kinda seen as corny when an elder clowns the younger generation just look at how people view post retirement shaq vs post retirement AI (the only one we acknowledge) who always shows love to the younger players.

This is rage bait and you know it WRU lmao.

they were googling elvis presley and a whole bunch of black rock n roll performers from the 50s? like every other future uk rock star did? beatles literally got their 'juice' from touring the us and listening to motown and james jameson
zero argument in this post

no indication of that so idk
wait till she learns some of the greatest artists ever have next to zero musical education that’s always been the beautiful thing about music Tyler creator ass rant
I feel like this is common criticism in every genre of every type of media
Your rap fatalism blinds you to the fact that this kind of craven perversion of art for the sake of capitalism is consistent across nearly all mediums and genres that remain in vogue and profitable, to the point that it’s practically human nature
Ion know man i think its definitely worse in hip hop than any other genre of music
I think that its good to know the history but i dont think its necessarily necessary depending on what style of music u make and how talented you are
Yes
Gatekeeping is good actually
So malodorous buffoons don’t dilute your s***
there’s so many stars today that were literally built within fan led communities and message groups on Twitter and TikTok man, actually the majority of them are this way aside from like maybe the female rappers where for them it was the right trend got them signed to an indie. the label control isn’t what it used to be in my opinion especially last 8 years. they only now getting back in control by purchasing everything again
Yea the most popular new rappers are usually creating their sound and aesthetic before the labels get involved, they gotta create their own fanbase before labels even consider signing them
But label influence is still huge because without that youll never truly become mainstream

But when i said this everyone acted like i was some type of troll or a******
All you need is a dope beat and sound good on the song. You don’t got to be saying s*** just sound good.
Terrible ideology lol this is why hip-hop is dying.
Yeah that's what all that "Let people have fun!" bullshit got us. A buncha of stupid ass white teenagers and even niggas who don't know s*** about the genre churning out vapid and repetitive bullshit.
Have you ever taken accountability for anything in your life?
Have you considered killing yourself
All you need is a dope beat and sound good on the song. You don’t got to be saying s*** just sound good.
Yea thats how people view rap now and its killing the genre
When i rap i make sure to say fly s*** and have dope bars even tho im mainly a producer and i try to make production a focal point of my music. Just ignoring lyrical quality all together is str8 up lazy and dumb and it makes the music trash imo. Just having hard beats gets old after a while

They got their juice in Hamburg before James Jamerson was even around yet.
John and Paul had a few music lessons as kids but studied records by Elvis, Chuck, Richard, Buddy, Everlys, Bo and the early girl groups that were out before Motown was even established. Also the skiffle guys from UK.
That's why Mavi my favorite rapper right now

unnecessary comment
The creation of algorithm-driven markets by users does not mean users control algorithmic content, even if their habits determine directions of the market.
Label bosses, digital capitalists, and board rooms are choosing what to buy into, what to boost, and what to cut off at the end of the day
This is so far from the truth. Labels loss money from the vast majority of artists they sign, they dont know with any good certainty what will pop off.
Its also way too simplistic to think they simply choose. They have an input but its based on what they think people will like

Eh idk i actually agree more with americana here i think the labels condition the audience not the other way around
It dont matter how fire u are if u dont get put in the limelight youll never become mainstream even if youre eating off a large fanbase. The labels control the culture
Most people will just follow whatever they think is cool and thats based on what is promoted by platforms which requires money and connections to get that promotion
Like i said u can be the best rapper ever but if people dont feel like you have motion no one will care trust
