Nah there’s nothing but facts in OP. People just look at the “ranking” without paying attention to what I’m saying. Kanye west only gets better as an artist, that’s a fact.

He's defo getting better with age

It's not because he's a better artist than his latest albums are better than old ones. You just forgot somehting : Work
There's more work on LR or CD than in the last 3 albums combined. Beats are really minimalist since TLOP, when in CD and LR, they were complexe, especially in LR, and he produced everything.
He can be the greatest artist of all time, but if he doesn't put serious work in it, his albums gonna sound meh
In Donda, it sounds that he put serious work on it, he seems to be focused. That wasn't the case for Ye ou JIK
If you think Ye is better than LR, then I'm sorry for you.

I shouldn’t have ranked the albums. I don’t like seeing CD and LR so low because i love them so much they’ve literally made me cry. Im over ranking anything now, period. F*** that.
Now, how much work you put into a piece of art doesn’t make it better than a minimalistic work, it just gives that false impression of greatness. All ye albums are great, because he has showcased his genius in every single one of them regardless of how much work he put into. And in my opinion, his latest work reflect that he’s become waaaay better at expressing who he was around the era that those albums came out.
Sorry OP but we have to disagree here. To my mind, only real ones know this is the rightful ranking:
1. JESUS IS KING
2. Ye
3. The Life of Pablo
4. Yeezus
5. 808s and Heartbreak
6. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
7. Graduation
8. Late Registration
9. The College Dropout
This is because as he gets older he gets more experienced in creating art and levels up in taste.
The only exception is MBDTF because he wasn’t trying to make real art there, but more like critic-bait pseudo art. He wanted to make the masses believe he created a masterpiece in order to save his career, and he accomplished that.
He’s been playing with public perception ever since fam. Once it was stablished that he is able to create “masterpieces” he went on to do whatever he wanted whether you’d like it or not (it doesn’t really matter to him because his taste level is so much higher than yours).
He was about to do the same s*** on the 7th solo (Pusha was right when he said that album was going to be better than MBDTF) but he changed his mind and went for the art (and THEN he regretted that, Pablo era is Kanye’s craziest yet {which one/which one}).
Now it seems like he doesn’t give a f*** anymore, but he can make MBDTF 2 if he wants to (and he might just do that before focusing on his presidential campaign).

I see what you’re saying tbh, but maybe the better way of saying it is that he keeps developing as an artist, art is after all subjective
@I_drive_for_Uber You’ve Just Become My Favorite Poster On This Site. I Don’t Care About Your Ranking. I Care That You Come To Meet The Art On Its Own Terms. He Really Has Refined His Minimalism With Each Release, Each Release Setting A New Goal.
You’re A True Artist. Every Ye Album Is A Masterpiece. Hope Donda Can Join Them.
Nope, the older Kanye gets - less hands on he is with his music. He was chopping samples on his first album then I think No ID said that Otis was the first beat that he has made himself in years.
I'm sure that his production impact in some songs nowadays is "Make it Darker".
I'm not buying that "Kanye decided to make a masterpiece with MBDTF and made it" either, as come on, if Kanye truly stayed the same, then no way dude who is about to butcher the third release date cares enough to spend months working on something to appeal to critics, public, etc.
That's why I'd say Kanye's peak was on 808s or MBDTF, because then he started literally buying beats from people and putting two samples over it. No wonder the instrumentals are more exoric, they are made by different people.
Those cheap arps and saws (I don’t know what that is) on On God are intentional. Everything Kanye does is intentional and that means is good.
From a Christian standpoint, there is nothing more deep than Jesus.
And what’s weak about Ye’s writing?
ITAKY has one of his best lyrics ever.
Please reconsider your thought process. Stanning like this is why Kanye began to coast musically

Kanye definitely became less hands on over time but if you don’t think he knows how to set a tone, curate & direct, and carve out a vision you’re buggin
Kanye music always feels like Kanye music even when it has 1000 contributors

Kanye is praised for his curation since CD, so nothing new there. Now, he has sweatshops making music for him which he visits from time to time, I definitely don't see it as an upgrade, unlike OP does.
I'm on the fence about second point. There were cases when I looked up credits to some songs and they wasn't Kanye produced but sounded like him, and there are some songs like Fade, which are Kanye produced but if I didn't know it, I wouldn't tell that it's Kanye.

Fair enough
Fade’s vocal arrangement building up in intensity towards a hard instrumental outro feels very Kanye to me but he hadn’t toyed directly with Chicago house music before that point so I see how that wouldn’t register as the Kanye sound
Ye actually has a few songs that don’t feel like Kanye tho now that you mention , and it was self admitted that he was not directly involved
But i think in this current era he is back on the boards much more . Less wifey time and an album that he hand-produced being released are strong indicators
Jesus Is King is as bad as Revival by Eminem
CMON MAN, JIK has nothing anywhere near abysmal as berserk

Especially relevant now cause you have songs that 1000% feel like they fit on a ye album that are like 10% Kanye vocals and 90% feature and I somehow don’t have any problem
With it

What would've been the tracklist for TLOP if he didn't go for art and went MBDTF level?
