Yes that’s pretty obvious. It’s still not a guarantee that someone will be diagnosed lol + That’s ignoring the other points I made about people slipping through the cracks without a diagnosis and the factors behind it though.

Having a diagnosis or not is not a good barometer of being apart of a ‘fake autism wave’ for people over a certain age (or in general with America’s healthcare system) and that’s my whole problem with your original post I quoted.

“It’s still not a guarantee that someone will be diagnosed”

Again, I never said it was lol

Having a diagnosis or not is not a good barometer of being apart of the ‘fake autism wave’

Drs themselves say all the time not to self diagnose.

Maybe I was a bit harsh but everyone knows there’s been an uptick of people false claiming this s***. A lot of people claiming fake mental disorders on tik tok and s***

Everybody wants to be quirky, special, and different

Claiming you have autism for attention is an easy way to do so

  • Free YoungBoy

Anybody noticing this phenomenon of more and more people falsely claiming autism like some sort of fashion accessory. I’m even seeing actresses doing it. Why do you think this is happening?

Its a symptom of the complete cultural shift over the last 15 or so years where being in some type of marginalized group is a social asset

aye but we weren’t wrong about Travis 😭

  • Guys on here say they're Autistic when they struggle to speak to women.

  • I’m not for s***ting on those who are diagnosed as autistic no matter how high functioning they are & what they go thru cause realistically I could fall under those who went undiagnosed bc of how I grew up but im still here for the jokes too

    shame on me

  • & also see how it is a cultural phenomenon to jump on the autism wave for an absolutely terrible lack of better terms

  • i think self diagnosis can be helpful but i dunno i do find it weird sometimes when they associate autism with they silliest things (niche interest = autism, socially awkward = autism, etc.). ppl forget its not just quirkiness especially if you've dealt with low functioning individuals you know how bad it can get. i've always had a feeling i might be on the spectrum but i dont go around saying im self diagnosed i dunno lol

  • Bc they don't want to be held accountable for their actions. They also want to be held to a lower standard and have less expected from them.

Basically most of them are just losers that want ppl/society to accept them and not look down on them for being a loser.

  • i think a lot of people in here are hateful and making assumptions because people dont fit into the box you want them to

  • Don Makaveli

Social awkwardness especially in adults is autism. If you’re neurotypical communicating with people who aren’t outright hostile towards you is like breathing

Not every introvert is autistic lol

hoe u aint even making spreadsheets in the drake sxn

  • As someone who has been diagnosed with Asperger’s, it is annoying as life when people who don’t have it like that claim it, especially since it leads to people’s perception of what “autism” is distorting.

  • I have autism spectrum disorder and I suffered a lot because of it. So that’s why it pisses me off and annoys me seeing it as an aesthetic

How do you know if someone’s faking it

  • Cherrywine1

How do you know if someone’s faking it

It's not uncommon for people to claim it and in the same breath say they are undiagnosed. I assume this situation is mainly what the thread is about.

A lot of people aren't aware of what criteria you have to meet for it, and you will never be able to self diagnose, only guess.

    What makes you say that?

  • Free YoungBoy

    What makes you say that?

“they’re faking it for attention!” what attention other than negative do you expect an autistic person to get by saying that?

in my experience once i tell people my diagnosis they get really f***ing mean. it’s not like there are benefits.
