nah fromsoft usually keeps it simple. most of those are just "you killed this boss"

    ahhh, thats good then.

I remember when I played Hollow Knight the achievements pretty damn difficult to get. I assumed Souls games would be the same

Honestly I'm still friends with a few of them too but havent played or talked with any of them in months (maybe over a year). The way the clan just f***ing discombobulated was crazy. Rarely see any of the other members play SSL anymore, couple havent signed into Steam in years, most playing random s***, and I don't think the leader has played the game since then either (he was #6 all time in XP and I believe he's below 30 now in the 3 years since then).

I have one buddy that also plays these games and also has extreme drama stories

That comment still must have peaked your interest to say the least

It did but a lot of these comic book directors from both studios say this stuff and it doesn’t really materialize. Reeves said Wong Kar-wai’s film Fallen Angels was an influence on The Batman and I don’t really see it. Same with the Russo’s citing Nashville when promoting Endgame.

it's all dumb s***. The high-tier 'upper-echelon' players have a certain way of playing (which I abide by because I enjoy that certain playstyle) and will target any new or old players who don't follow their rules if it's in a certain lobby. I know every community has a certain group of s***ty people, but SSL's entire upper-level set of players are toxic pricks who will target/shun any non-followers. Prob why I rarely go back since I hit level 100

I meant in the context of the film. I’ll give you that Warner Bros is attempting to copy Disney’s formula some what at least in terms of marketing spin offs and interconnectivity. I’m not gonna defend it but I’ll say that at this point it doesn’t feel like their spin offs are essential viewing in the same way. I don’t think you’ll need Peacemaker to understand the next Suicide Squad film or need the Arkham Asylum show to understand The Batman 2.

Replace those names with certain marvel movies and it would still be true

Also do you think it's cool how we're still experiencing the repercussions of the snap in WandaVision and stuff? Love how they do that with the big events. Loki finale the next big one I reckon.

I know Schumaker has an extended cut of the film he wanted to release over the years but he never got to put it out before passing sadly. Some of the deleted scenes look great and tonally would have helped to make it feel like a more appropriate follow up to Returns.

Lmao I didn't hear about the Nashville one but the elements were pretty disparate at points

We'll see how Raimi's horror thing pans out with Dr Strange pretty quick here

Yeah I do appreciate all that stuff. The consequences of Infinity War being felt years after the fact is really good in the stuff I’ve seen. I also liked in Iron Man 3 how Tony was struggling with the events of Avengers and the trauma of almost dying in space really got to him. I’m really looking forward to Dr. Strange.

watching that reminds me how amazing that game looked and how great the soundtrack was, but it's like 99% likely I never touch a game of that caliber again. Life was absolute Hell at the time and I was trying to find new (old) things to help me through. Would have to see when I bought it but if it's 2018-19 then yeah it was a rare purchase for a tumultuous time.

That kind of reminded me of BvS’s response to the destruction Superman caused in Man of Steel. I don’t think it was intentional going in but both follow ups to Marvel and DC films really used the criticism of those events to build new stories off of. Age of Ultron kinda underrated.

Yeah they sort of had to because the collateral damage was way way beyond the point that superman should have clued in that he could easily take this fight to space or something one of the many many moments in Snyder DC films that are nonsensical to me even though it ended up playing into the next movies plot effectively. Just made Superman look dumb.

I’ve grown to like that film more but yeah even me and my Snyder defending ass was shaking my head a ton at a lot of that stuff.

don't think the games really affected me negatively mentally but I used them as escapism. Don't think they helped as my last playtime for Hollow Knight was Nov 2018 and that's when my second hospital visit of the year happened. Guess I figured they did nothing for me and I just stopped after another collapse and never went back. I never really been much of a true gamer though so it's weird I'd buy those games in the first place. Finished the 1st Ori at the time tho and it was fun. never did finish will of the wisps

Probably the worst part in that film tbh. Him dying of a heart attack in the original Donner film is just way more powerful.

hollow knight and dark souls fans are pretty much the same crowd. if you browse their reddits there's a lot of "this game helped me through a deep depression" type posts. they can be brutal but there is a sense of persevering and overcoming the challenge that's really healthy for the brain, i guess.
