Elevators
was really hoping the gnarlier tunes would hit for you

Exactly so he would've loved to take it a step backwards in the progression of that sound
a good amount of Spector produced R&B is Fidelio core
Yeah but that’s different. That was before a lot of R&B sort of developed that over singing showy style that ruins the melodies. That recent Rita Ora cover of Running Up The Hill is probably the most extreme worst example.
I can acknowledge that alot of 70s stuff just isn't for me but there's a whole lot to unpack from that decade. I wasnt using my personal opinion for my 60s argument (ok maybe the psych comment was worded that way but not my intent. )
Your psych comment definitely started this off on the wrong foot if you actually felt like engaging in a conversation

Different than what? don't understand what you're saying here

That is a '70s thing due to the loose sexual expression of funk. The Temptations, Marvin, Sam and Otis were not doing that in the '60s. James and the Four Tops did that a little bit.
Yall don't get my point
got nothing to do with personal opinion and I'm not dissing the 60s but objectively, because of the groundwork and influence of the 60s, there is more and more music to dugest and discover each decade. Calling 60s top heavy is not an insult cause I would put a s***load of 60s albums in my top 50 but as we go further down, the other decades will have more gems
It's the period when the doors of creativity blew wide open and you can still feel the excitement in the music 60 years later. There's no other decade that started out one way and ended in a whole other universe basically. There's literally something about the sound of the records in that middle period between the true dust and the full sounding production era when things were transitioning that just sparkles with such creative energy (at the top of the pop charts) I can't really define it for you.
My comment on singles was referring to the fact that all of the goats of the first half of the decade fly under your radar still because you have to listen to compilations of their singles to appreciate their careers. The decade only seems top heavy to you because all of the best music of the first half of the decade is on compilations not albums which is the only thing you acknowledge. And all of the artists from across the whole pop sphere of the decade had a lot of their highlights on non album singles and gems hidden as b-sides etc. Which makes the period immensely enjoyable to dive of further and further into in a way that only really the 80s can compare but not really.

Marvin was alot sexier than Levi in the 60s :elon: Ruffin too.
Levi was all power and drama but Marvin was always pure s**

I will accept whatever you can give me as long as it's ranked.

Okay but every other decade is still deeper and you have no way to disprove that since you've spent 90% of your life marinating one decade
One of my favorite albums of the 2010s is some Estonian chick on violin mixed with electronic arrangements and she only has like 800 twitter followers. The possibilities for music exploration are endless nowadays. This is my point
The amount of 60s unsorted music is also endless. With country, rockabilly, gospel, soul... Things that were released as a b-side on some independent label, then only reissued after 30 years on a german CD. Sometimes not even that. Not to count s*** on labels like Folkways, which makes it even more open.
This monolith of a song only has 100 views on youtube.

He doesn't acknowledge any of this because it's not on scaruffi album list

@RVI me and you talked about this before. I don’t know the exact terminology. Can you try to explain it to him.

Well then agree to disagree
cause at this point we're arguing a matter of opinion.

Except that I've actually dove into the 50s and early '60s and later decades :kendricklaff: I'll allow that you know this century better than me

I honestly just can't be bothered with the 50s. Might be the album purist in me
