Like dubstep and raggaeton, later incarnations just completely destroyed the labels
absolutely, 3rd wave ska being akin to brostep is a good comparison
whats the ska fabriclive 37
the perception of ska in america is shaded by 3rd wave and s*** like mighty mighty bosstones. 60s jamaican ska and 2 tone is some of the best music made anywhere ever
Nah I'm quite aware of the Jamaican pre-roots/dub era ska and for the most part can't stand it. Need the deep hanging testicular bass and molasses tempo.
Ska has grown on me. I went to an all-ska Jeff Rosenstock show last year and it was an absolute blast. Like I prefer his punk rock stuff but ska has its place.
this "sucks" yea ok lol
I got a black cloud over me this year that makes me hate anybody that's having fun so
sounds like s*** to me rn
Honestly...if were talking critically...then the most underrated band ever is sublime imo. They get such a bad rep from critics and because of their "douche bag" fans. But 40 oz to freedom is a great record. And if u can get past the whole white guy doing reggae thing. Like i used to have the standard music snob opinion that sublime sucked. But imo they have a genuine respect and appreciation for the sound and pretty impeccable taste.
And then the most rewarding musical journey ive ever been on is getting into jamaican music the last few years. And besides the obvious toots, melodians, peter tosh samples, im still hearing sublime samples, like the other day i was listening to yellowman and i heard the sample from greatest hits.
But yea 40 oz, robbin the hood, s/t are all classics and theyd be my pick for most underrated band of the last 30 years.
I f*** with Sublime but like you said they get looped in with a certain crowd that kinda ruined their reputation but are still loved by a lot of people even after all these years.
One Ska band I always heard great things about is Streetlight Manifesto
Few bands I've hated as long and hard as I have Sublime. Every dipshit cornball stoner I met in highschool was a stan.

I’ve had phases with them. Loved them as a kid. Hated them as a young adult until about very recently. Now I think they’re okay. I like this Lana Del Rey cover of one of their songs.

the horns x punk riffs just feel

there is music i cant stand for similar petty reasons so i cant blame ya there!
Yea idk bout this one broski haha I know for modern prog a lot put them right under Tool and their fans are serious bout that Volta
Every fanbase has stans of ridiculous levels

THPS-core

Yeah I think some people need to get over allowing annoying fans ruin the music itself for them.

It wasn't just the fans I also hated the music

but none are the level of PROG ROCK

I was talking about Mars Volta and Tool in that context. Wasn’t in relation to what you were saying.
The cliche obnoxious Tool fan is such a f***ing meme but those guys really do exist by the thousands
but none are the level of PROG ROCK
Nah ACDC fans at the lake and s***
way worse. Prog nerds at least keep to themselves.

I've met a few but they take a while to reveal themselves unlike alot of other vocal stanbases
but none are the level of PROG ROCK
Specifically modern prog. People are way more harsh against modern prog because of their fans compared to dudes obsessed with Yes.
but none are the level of PROG ROCK
Yeah prog def brings out the weirdos for some reason but let's not pretend there arent Stan wars in twitter between pop fanbases going at eachother's throats

One guy ambushed me with it by talking about wine
"Oh you like to drink? Do you like wine? I bought a crate of Maynard's wine, you know from Tool? Do you listen to Tool? Do you know they're the greatest band on earth? Seriously bro"

Those are kind of hilarious though. The kpop tweens are vicious. They will mail you anthrax cause you said you didn't like a song on twitter.

They're all equally psychotic and it is kinda entertaining seeing them send eachother death threats

Yo I remember when I was on a lunch break I randomly saw some dude wearing a Dropdead shirt and I pointed it out.. Talked a bit about riffs, etc.. Thought cool dude.. But then the guy followed me into my store and tried to keep the convo going
Like alright buddy I gotta go
