Black Heart Procession has more classical song structures but all the rest is there imo.
I agree there is a link to all those genres and we could even say ambient music/experimental rock/math rock, even Krautrock?. I often hear things like “rock music that slowly builds to a climactic finish, above average playtimes, the progression of musical motifs repeating” These terms are seemingly specific yet completely vague.
Every definition I read never really hits the nail on the head. Not by fault of the definition but by the ineffable nature of the genre itself. yours is quite good though :)
Definitely. I'd also add minimal and jazz.
Listen to Kraftwerk's Kling Klang and then to Tortoise Djed and yes, there is definitely a Krautrock influence. Furthermore, I'd also argue that Faust were proto Post Rock on their first album. Just like Miles Davis' In A Silent Way is pretty close in places.
thank you. :)
Godzilla vs Hedorah might be my favorite Zilla film tbh
definitely the zaniest yet one of the darkest. I really like it too.
Had a torrent stalled out on that for months, I wanna see it too
what are your favorite Noir (Top 20)?

Also just listened to Frances the Mute again for the first time in a bit. If I do end up doing the 2000s it has serious potential for top 5. I think it's top 10 ir 15 right now... my top 5 so stacked for me though.
What a masterpiece regardless
I wish more of the Godzilla movies had the same vibe as the original. It was so grim.
many fans want that. The Heisei series comes closest as an entire series built with that atmosphere. However, Toho sort of failed to reproduce that with the Millenium series. While I like a few of the singular films they just restart the plot over and over.

the trailer to the 2014 version was spot on but then the actual movie was some bland ass
@Aruji Listened on a bike ride nonetheless. Those manic instrumental sections are def quite the soundtrack of fighting against wind and up hills

blame Aaron Taylor Johnson (among other things). Guy can't act to save his life.

i blame gareth edward most of all. he even made star wars boring.
I liked Man of Steel
It’s gotten so much better over the years. I love some of the Malick stuff he was doing in it.

hope u had a nice ride
Anyone listen to The Soft Pink Truth album that came out last month? I played it a couple times while I was working today and it's absolutely beautiful

I think I have Djed in my top 500 songs oat playlist
around the 12 minute mark always gives me huge Steve Reich vibes.

I always thought Man of Steel was such a let down compared to how good the teaser trailer was (the one that used the LOTR soundtrack in it)
Same thing happened with the Godzilla (2014) teaser that used Ligeti's Requiem.
Such a dope trailer and the movie ended up being completely forgettable imo.
What do you mean by Malick though... I must have missed this.
2014 Godzilla is the best one
the original loses a lot of impact when at the end of the day it just looks some some sock puppet walking around

I always mix up the 2014 Godzilla with Pacific Rim. In my memory they are the same movie .
I’ve re-listened to Spiderland like 4 times in the last few days, thinking about how the members of that band were 19-20 when they wrote it and how unbelievable that is.
Just listen to the lyrics in a song like 'Good Morning, Captain' and it's hard to believe they were that young when they wrote it.
U2 and the stones were that young starting out too

Pacific Rim is so much better
i remember being early to an improv comedy show and they were showing Godzilla 2014 on the tv at the bar. i watched most of it and it seemed like a pretty movie at least lol
U2 and the stones were that young starting out too
True. The only difference I think would be that the Stones didn't have an album as mature and fully realized until a bit later in their career.
And the only U2 album I've heard tbh is Joshua Tree (which I actually really love)
