S*** is shaping out better these days where guys like Jenkins, Peele, Coogler and McQueen have multiple hits
Helps that they're making money. Less opportunities and then less second chances. Peele has created a whole space for black genre/horror movies. Mariana Diallo's movie was def in that vein, even if I think she kind of subverted it ultimately. The easiest kind of movie to get made and turn a profit.
Oscar Micheaux was super prolific in the silent era even. The first black owned film company. Directed and produced over 40 films. Just kind of obscure these days.
