yeah i think i just expected too much from the intro. the lovestory ff’s are some of my favorite, so i was hoping for an eyes on me, or tidus and yuna kissing in the water kind of scene

yeah that’s nice, but i wish they kind of had the ambition to make an effective and touching love story in the middle of this character action rpg. someone said it earlier in the thread but for me something i loved about ff that isn’t as present in 16 is the push and pull of the masculine and the feminine. ff 10, 7, and 8 being great examples of this.

xv had the excuse of the whole setting being a boys trip but with the presence of jill there is no excuse that she shouldn’t be as funny and genuinely charming as aerith, or yuna, or the dozen other great ff women characters

The thing yall aren’t realizing is that these are their characters fully realized. They are very damaged, have been through a f*** load, and aren’t out being all happy go lucky and building a ton of relationships on the side.
Clive and Jill were both basically slaves and Clive thought his brother was dead by his hand, Jill was a war slave for years. I thought they did a great job with the characters in this game, given those character’s circumstances.
What would y’all be acting like if you went what they went through?

nah don’t get me wrong i like the game a lot and i think the overall plot/story/setting is great. maybe i’m wrong i’m just hoping for more of an arc. i’m only a little over halfway through the game so maybe i just haven’t seen it yet

i get that the intention was probably that the story was so huge and politically driven that the personal relationships between the characters needed to take a backseat but for me it’s just like when cid’s your companion in the early game there all these nice character interactions between him and clive, but during the huge stretch in the middle where hill is your main party member there’s barely anything there. it would be amazing to see that relationship fleshed out more and we’d be waaayyyy more invested in their relationship for it

I beat this game in like 1 week which is rare for me so its good lol
I just have 0 desire to ever play it again at all and some of its a slog
